Components
- 1 board (tablier)
- 1 Crown (Couronne)
- 18 pieces: 9 red and 9 blue
Players
2 players, or 2 teams.
Objective
Seize the Crown with one of your pieces and bring that piece back to its base (the square marked with a disc of the player's colour).
Setup
Place the Crown on the central square of the board. Then place the red and blue pieces on the squares bordered by the matching colour.
Gameplay
-
The players take turns.
-
A played piece moves in a straight line: forward, backward, sideways, or diagonally. The exception is a piece that has captured the Crown, which is not allowed to move diagonally.
-
A played piece (whether or not it carries the Crown) must move a number of squares strictly equal to the total number of red and blue pieces located on the same line as it, counted before its move. (The source prints "sstrictement"; this is read as "strictement".)
Example (diagram on the sheet): To play the red piece marked "A", it must move exactly 3 squares. The blue piece "B" must move 2 squares. Piece "C" can only move 1 square.
-
A piece may not jump over another piece in Sabotage.
-
If a piece, at the end of its move, lands on a square occupied by an opposing piece, that opposing piece is permanently removed from the board.
-
A player may seize the Crown by landing either: a) on the central square where it was placed at the start of the game, or b) on a square occupied by an opposing piece that is carrying it.
In both cases, place the Crown on the piece that was just moved. Remember that from then on this piece may no longer move diagonally.
End of Game
Victory goes to the player who brings the Crown back to their base (the square marked with a disc of their colour).
