Your Goal

Be the first player to completely get your Hero Car off the opposite end of the Traffic Grid.

Set-Up

  1. Shift the three-part Traffic Grid so all three sections are completely lined up and form a 6 x 14-unit rectangle.
  2. Select one of the Game Set-ups (see page 23), and place vehicles on the Traffic Grid to match the illustration.
  3. Shuffle the cards and deal four face-down to both players. Set aside the remaining cards in a face-down stack to create the draw pile.
  4. Determine which player will use the Gold Hero Car, and which will use the Silver Hero Car.

Steps to Play

  1. For the first game, the youngest player goes first. In subsequent games, the winner of the prior game goes first.

  2. The first player selects one of the four cards in his/her hand and plays it by placing it face-up next to the draw pile. This creates the discard pile. He/she then moves vehicles and/or shifts the grid as they see fit according to the rules of the card played (see page 5 for Card Rules). He/she then draws a new card from the draw pile.

NOTE: When the original draw pile runs out of cards, shuffle the discard pile and turn it face-down to create a new draw pile.

  3. The second player selects one of his/her four cards, places it in the discard pile and makes their move. He/she then draws a new card from the draw pile.

  4. The game continues in this fashion until one player's Hero Car crosses the finish line on the opposite end of the Traffic Grid.

Winning the Game

The first player to get their Hero Car completely off the opposite end of the Traffic Grid is the winner!

Booklet illustrations are captioned "Not a win." and "Now that's a win!".

Vehicle Movement Rules

  1. Players can move any vehicle on the Traffic Grid EXCEPT their opponent's Hero Car.
  2. Vehicles can only slide forwards and backwards, not sideways.
  3. Vehicles cannot be lifted off the Traffic Grid surface.
  4. The only vehicles allowed to exit the Traffic Grid are the Gold and Silver Hero Cars. All Blocking Vehicles must remain fully on the Traffic Grid at all times.

Card Rules

MOVE: Move any of the Blocking Vehicles or your own Hero Car the number of spaces indicated. If the card shows a number higher than one, the number of spaces to move can be split between multiple vehicles.

SHIFT THE GRID: Choose the right OR left side of the Traffic Grid and, using the "shifter" handles on the grid, shift that side up or down any number of rows. At least one row must always connect all three Traffic Grid parts.

Booklet illustrations are captioned "Correct" and "Incorrect".

SLIDE: Move any one Blocking Vehicle or your own Hero Car as many spaces as you want until it reaches another vehicle or the end of the Traffic Grid. If the Slide card takes your Hero Car off the opposite end of the Traffic Grid, you win!

MOVE & SHIFT: Using the guidelines described above, move any vehicle or your own Hero Car AND shift the grid. These actions can be completed in any order: move then shift; shift then move; or move, shift, and move again (as long as the total moves equals the number shown on the card).

Locking the Traffic Grid

If a vehicle is straddling two grid parts, those two parts cannot be shifted. The vehicle locks those two grid parts in place until the vehicle is moved fully to one side or the other.

Game Set-ups

The booklet's Game Set-ups page (page 23) shows ten starting configurations, numbered 1 to 10, as diagrams. Set-Up step 2 refers to them. The diagrams are pictures of vehicle positions and are not reproduced as text here; use the printed booklet to pick a configuration.

Gap note: the ten set-up diagrams are not transcribed. The booklet's remaining pages carry only the translated set-up heading and product promotion.
