The Aim of the Game

To have the most cheese when all the cheese is in possession of the players.

Setup

Place the game board on the table, and all the cheese in the middle of the game board. Give the dice to the player who has last seen a rat. This player starts.

How to Play

This game can be played at 3 different skill levels.

  • Level 1 is played without the plates, and has no risk element.
  • Level 2 is played with the plates showing side A and has a low risk element.
  • Level 3 is played with the plates showing side B and has a high risk element.

The turns go in a clockwise direction.

On each turn your goal is to collect cheese from the middle of the game board and from the other players. This is done by rolling the dice. Both dice are always rolled together. You can roll as many times you want during your turn.

Level 1 - Lucky Rrrats!

No plates are used on this level!

If you roll...

  • cheese: take 1 piece of cheese from the middle of the game board.
  • rat: take 1 piece of cheese from another player (or from the middle).
  • a blank: nothing happens.
  • 2 blanks: Your turn ends.

In different combinations you just add the effects, 2 cheese symbols - take 2 pieces of cheese from the middle, rat and cheese - take 1 cheese from the middle and 1 from another player, etc.

Level 2 - Sensible Rrrats!

Each player attaches a personal plate showing side A to the game board (picture 1). Each plate has room for only 4 pieces of cheese.

If you roll...

  • cheese: move 1 piece of cheese from the middle of the game board to one of the slots on your plate.
  • rat: take 1 piece of cheese from another player (or from the middle) and place it in one of the slots on your plate.
  • a blank: nothing happens.
  • 2 blanks: Your turn ends and all cheese on your plate is returned to the middle. Pass the dice to the next player.

If you choose not to roll any more this turn before you have 4 pieces of cheese: collect all the cheese from your plate. Then pass the dice to the next player.

If your plate at any point fills up with 4 pieces of cheese, you collect them and place them in front of yourself. Your turn ends; pass the dice to the next player.

In different combinations you just add the effects, 2 cheese symbols - move 2 pieces cheese from the middle to slots on your plate, rat and cheese - move 1 cheese from the middle and 1 from another player to your plate, etc. You cannot collect more than 4 pieces of cheese during one turn even if the dice would lead you to do so. You must leave the 5th piece of cheese, collect the four pieces of cheese from your plate, and end your turn.

Level 3 - Greedy Rrrats!

Each player attaches a personal plate showing side B to the game board (picture 2). Each plate has unlimited room for cheese!

If you roll...

  • cheese: move 1 piece of cheese from the middle of the game board to your plate.
  • rat: take 1 piece of cheese from another player (or from the middle) and place it on your plate.
  • a blank: nothing happens.
  • 2 blanks: Your turn ends and all cheese on your plate is returned to the middle.

In different combinations you just add the effects, 2 cheese symbols - move 2 pieces of cheese from the middle to your plate, rat and cheese - move 1 cheese from the middle and 1 from another player to your plate, etc.

If you choose not to roll any more this turn: collect all the cheese from your plate and place it in front of yourself. Then pass the dice to the next player clockwise.

The End of the Game

The game ends when there is no more cheese on the game board. The winner is the player with the most cheese!
