Components
- 54 rose cards
- 28 heart tokens (1 heart token = 1 charm point)
Goal of the Game
The goal of the game is to be the first to score 5 or more charm points. To do so, players must carefully choose which of their opponents to offer rose cards to.
Setup
- Shuffle the rose cards and deal 4 cards face down to each player. Place the remaining cards face down as a pile in the centre of the table.
- Place the heart tokens next to the rose card deck.
You are ready to start the game!
Game Play
The game is started by the player who most recently pricked themselves on a rose thorn. Play then passes clockwise. On your turn you must go on a date with another player. Then, if you wish, you may exchange the roses in your bouquet for victory points.
Go on a Date with Another Player (mandatory action)
Choose the player you will go on a date with this turn. Offer them one of your rose cards face down.
The player has a choice:
- accept your rose and add it to their bouquet, or
- refuse your rose (in which case you take this card and add it to your own bouquet).
Check the bouquet to which a rose has just been added. If the bouquet has 5 or more thorns, remove all rose cards from this bouquet to the discard pile (cards are discarded face up in one pile next to the rose card deck).
At the end of their turn, the player draws 1 card from the rose card deck so that they again have 4 cards in hand.
Exchange a Bouquet for Charm Points (additional action)
If your bouquet (lying in front of you) has 4 or more roses, you may exchange it for charm points.
Take 1 or more heart tokens depending on the number of roses in your bouquet:
- 4-5 roses: you receive 1 charm point.
- 6-7 roses: you receive 2 charm points.
- 8-9 roses: you receive 3 charm points.
- 10 or more roses: you are immediately declared the winner.
End of the Game
The game ends in one of 3 cases:
- One of the players reaches 5 or more charm points. This player is immediately declared the winner.
- One of the players exchanges a bouquet of 10 or more roses for points. This player is immediately declared the winner.
- The rose card deck runs out of cards. The players finish the round, and the game ends. The player with the most charm points is declared the winner. In case of a tie between players, they are all declared winners.
