Object of the Game
Rock Trivia has been designed to provide a quick and challenging test of knowledge in the area of "rock". All players must travel through the 33 RPM record-album gameboard from beginning to end, answering questions as they travel. The first player to reach the center of the "record" wins the game.
Playing Components
- 1 – Game Board
- 1 – Storage Tray
- 1 – die
- 8 – sets of category question cards (100 cards per category)
- 6 – playing pieces (stackable)
To Begin the Game
A minimum of two players (or teams) are required to play Rock Trivia. Up to six players (or teams) can play.
Players begin by placing the storage tray in an area accessible to everyone. The tray is designed so that the cards can be easily taken from the top of the pile and easily placed on the bottom after being used.
Each player selects a playing piece and places it on "Start". The color of the playing piece does not relate to the colors on the board or the colors of the category cards.
Each player rolls the die to determine who goes first. The highest roll begins and play continues in a clockwise direction.
Playing the Game
The "player" rolls the die and moves his playing piece the corresponding number of spaces. The "player" must now be asked a question. The person to the right selects the top card from the pile that corresponds to the color of the space the "player" has landed on.
There are five questions on every card. The "player" announces which numbered question he/she would like to be asked (1 to 5). The person who has selected the question card then asks that question. If the player answers correctly, he/she rolls again and proceeds until a question is answered incorrectly. When a player answers a question incorrectly, play moves to the next player.
White Spaces
If a player lands on a white space, he/she has landed on a "wild card" space, and can select the category as well as the number. If the question is answered correctly, then the player proceeds as normal. If the question is answered incorrectly while on a "wild card" space, then the player must move back 7 spaces. Play then proceeds to the next player.
Ending the Game
When a player reaches the end of the board and answers the last question correctly, he/she must then answer one last question to win. The other players agree on the category to be asked. If the question is answered correctly, that player wins the game. If the question is answered incorrectly, then the player stays where he is; play proceeds until his/her next turn, when the same procedure is repeated.
Speeding Up the Game
The game can be speeded up by doing the following:
- Doubling the roll of the die.
- Eliminating the "back 7 spaces" penalty.
Special Note
The player being asked the question always selects the number of the question he/she wishes to be asked.
