Are there special rules for two players, and must we sit opposite each other?
The designer said to sit anywhere; the rest is confirmed by other players.

No special rules, and players may sit wherever they like. In a two-player game each player commonly controls one hero, though a player may control more than one, and a skull is dropped after each hero's turn.
