How do Isa's bargain events work when I lack the companion or the cost?

Choices you cannot afford are greyed out in the app and cannot be selected. The lose-a-companion option appears only if you gained a companion earlier. For a collective loss of treasures, the designer said the group loses whatever treasure it has collectively and both players gain a corruption. Isa's failed quest that caps warriors at 40 counts every warrior, including those held by players: remove from the supply first, then players give up the excess.
