The number of paw prints on an Animal disc indicates the total copies of that specific animal in the entire game (e.g., Bear = 1, Frog = 5).

Setup

  1. Place the Main Board in the center of the table.

  2. Both players must use identical Player Board shapes. Each player takes one full set of Player Board Modules. Together, select a board shape to construct (see Player Board Shapes below). For introductory games, choosing a "Tutorial" shape is highly recommended.

  3. Depending on the chosen shape, some Volcano Tiles may be left over. Return any unused Volcano Tiles to the box. Place the Brown, Sky Blue, and Green Ruin Tiles onto the corresponding ruin spaces marked on those colored modules.

  4. Each player takes the two Robot Pawns of their chosen color. Place one pawn on your Starting Tile; this is your Worker. Place the other pawn near the spaces of your color on the Main Board; this is your Collector.

  5. Each player receives 1 Reference Card and 2 Energy Tokens. Form a general supply next to the Main Board with Mission Completion Markers and the remaining Energy Tokens.

  6. Place the 3 Basic Bonus Tiles in a row next to the Main Board. Shuffle the 12 Extra Bonus Tiles, draw 6, and place them face-up on top of the Basic Bonus Tiles, distributing 2 onto each pile (ensure they are slightly overlapped so all tiles remain visible). Return the remaining Extra Bonus Tiles to the box; they will not be used in this game.

  7. Place all 60 discs into the cloth bag. Draw 16 discs at random to fill the Main Board in clockwise order, and towards the center.

Note: When filling the Main Board with discs, always start from the space indicated by the green arrow and follow the path.

  8. Determine the starting player. The other player places their Collector on one of the four spaces matching their color on the Main Board.

Gameplay

Goal of the game: The first player to complete 3 Mission discs wins the game immediately. Otherwise, the game ends once both players' Player Boards are completely filled, and the player with the higher total score wins.

Beginning with the starting player, players alternate turns. On your turn, proceed through the following three steps in order:

  1. Take a Disc
  2. Place the Disc
  3. Turn End

Step 1: Take a Disc

Place your Collector on one of the 4 spaces along the edge of the Main Board matching your color. Then, take the disc located at the exact intersection pointed to by both Collectors (yours and your opponent's).

  • You must place your Collector so that it points to an intersection containing a disc.
  • If there is no intersection where your Collector can target a disc, replenish the Main Board beforehand (see Replenishing below).
  • You can replenish the Main Board before choosing, even if there are valid intersections, by paying 2 Energy Tokens (see Replenishing below).

Important! After replenishing, all spaces will have discs. You may place your Collector on its current space—effectively leaving it there—to take the newly placed intersecting disc.

Example: Taking a disc. Keanu (Blue) can place his Collector on B to take, or on D to take. A or C are unavailable to him, as there is no disc in either intersection.

Example: Paying to replenish. If Keanu pays 2 Energy Tokens before placing his Collector, the Main Board is replenished. Keanu may then place his Collector on any space from A to D to take a disc.

Example: Free replenishing. Zenta (yellow) should place her Collector and take a disc, but there are no discs in the intersections currently available to her. She therefore replenishes the Main Board for free, then makes her choice, selecting any space from E to H. She chooses G and takes the intersecting disc.

Replenishing

Draw discs from the bag to fill all empty spaces on the Main Board. Always begin filling from the space marked with the green arrow and follow the indicated path (clockwise, and going towards the center).

Step 2: Place the Disc

Place the disc you've taken onto an empty space on your Player Board, directly adjacent to your Worker. If there are no empty spaces adjacent to your Worker, you may place the disc on any empty space on your Player Board. Even if adjacent empty spaces are available, you may pay 2 Energy Tokens to ignore adjacency and place the disc on any empty space on your Player Board.

Important! Spaces that already contain a disc, the Starting Tile space, Volcano Tile spaces, and Ruin Tile spaces do not count as empty spaces.

Example: Placing a disc. Zenta can place her disc on space A or B. If she pays 2 Energy Tokens, she may place it on any empty space instead.

Example: No free adjacent space. There are no empty spaces adjacent to Keanu's Worker. Therefore, Keanu may place his disc on any empty space on his Player Board.

Step 3: Turn End

Move your Worker directly onto the disc you just placed. Then, resolve the following three steps before ending your turn.

  1. Take Energy: If the disc you just placed depicts an Energy icon(s), take that corresponding number of Energy Tokens from the general supply.
  2. Complete a Region: If you fill the final empty space of the Sky Blue (City), Green (Radioactive), or Brown (Wasteland) region, take the top tile from any of the three Bonus Tile stacks. Replace the Ruin Tile currently sitting in that completed region with the Bonus Tile you just took. Remove the replaced Ruin Tile from the game.
  3. Check for Instant Victory: Whenever you complete a Mission disc, take 1 Mission Completion Marker. If you take your third Mission Completion Marker, the game ends immediately, and you win (see Mission discs under Scoring below).

Example: Completing a region. Zenta's Sky Blue (City) region is completely filled. Zenta chooses an available Bonus and takes it. She replaces the Ruin Tile in the Sky Blue (City) region with this Bonus Tile and removes the Ruin Tile from the game.

Game End

If a player completes 3 Mission discs, they immediately win the game. Otherwise, the game ends when all empty spaces on both Player Boards are filled. Players then score points for each disc type (see Scoring below), and the player with the most points wins.

Scoring

Disc Group Scoring

A "Group" is defined as a cluster of adjacent discs of the same type.

  • Animal groups: Score points based on the number of different animal species within a group.

    Species12345678
    Points1361015212836
  • Forest groups: Score as many points as there are trees, only if the group is comprised of a multiple of 5 trees.

    Trees0~456~910

Individual Disc Scoring

  • Lake discs: Each Lake disc scores points equal to the number of trees adjacent to it.
  • Purifier discs: If the number of different types adjacent to the Purifier disc equals or exceeds its number of Vents (its point value), score the printed points.

Types: There are 6 valid types (Animal, Forest, Lake, Purifier, Mission, and Bonus). Bonus Tiles that specify they are treated as an Animal, Forest, or Lake are considered that respective type for this calculation. The Starting Tile and Volcano Tiles do not count as a type.

Mission discs: Each Mission disc shows a specific requirement. If the requirement is met, the disc is worth 3 points. When checking the requirement, sum the total quantity of the specified discs on your Player Board. Requirements include:

  • 5 or more Lake discs
  • 7 or more Animal discs
  • 6 or more Forest discs
  • 5 or more Purifier discs
  • 3 or more Mission discs (including this disc itself)

Reminder: As soon as a player completes their 3rd Mission disc, that player instantly wins the game.

Bonus Tiles

  • Basic Bonus Tiles: Score the points printed on the tile (2, 3, or 4 points).
  • Extra Bonus Tiles: Score points or apply effects accordingly. The Extra Bonus Tiles include effects such as:
    • Treated as an Animal disc
    • Treated as an Animal disc
    • Treated as a Lake disc
    • Treated as a Forest disc with 2 Trees
    • Score per Vent in this region
    • Score per Lake disc in this region
    • Score per Energy icon in this region
    • Score per different Type in this region
    • Score per Animal disc in this region
    • Reduce all of your Mission disc requirements by 1
    • Score per Mission disc in this region
    • Score per adjacent Vent

Scoring Example

  • A has 1 species (Animal group): 1 point.
  • B has 4 species (Animal group): 10 points.
  • C has 6 Trees (Forest group, not a multiple of 5): 0 points.
  • D has 10 Trees (Forest group): 10 points.
  • a has 5 adjacent Trees (Lake disc): 5 points.
  • b has 5 adjacent Trees (Lake disc): 5 points.
  • c has 2 adjacent Types, requirement not met (Purifier disc): 0 points.
  • d has 2 adjacent Types, requirement met (Purifier disc): 2 points.
  • e has 2 adjacent Types, requirement not met (Purifier disc): 0 points.
  • f has 5 adjacent Types, requirement met (Purifier disc): 4 points.
  • g, requirement met (3 Mission discs on the board): 3 points.
  • h, requirement met thanks to Extra Bonus Tile k (6 Animal discs on the board): 3 points.
  • i, requirement reduced from 5 to 4, but still not met (2 Lake discs on the board): 0 points.
  • j has 4 adjacent Vents (Bonus tile): 4 points.

Total score in this example: 47 points.

Player Board Shapes

The Player Board can be constructed in several predefined shapes, each built from the Player Board Modules: Londra Nova (Tutorial 1), Dubara (Tutorial 2), Hudson Prime, Singa Nexus, Rio Vertex, Neo Edo, Seorium, and Nile Nexus.

Variants

Variant 1: Custom Player Board Shapes

For advanced games, players may construct custom Player Board shapes during setup instead of choosing predefined ones. Both players must have identical board shapes.

  1. Together, decide how many Volcano Tiles will be used. Return unused Volcano Tiles to the box.
  2. One player places their Starting Tile and chosen Volcano Tile(s) in any configuration.
  3. Then, they must completely surround those tiles with their remaining region modules, leaving no gaps.
  4. The other player then replicates this exact same shape with their modules.

Variant 2: Alternate Lake Scoring

Lake discs: Instead of scoring based on adjacent Trees, each Lake disc scores points equal to the total number of Trees present within the same region. The Purple (Factory) region is considered a single, unified region even if its modules are separated on your board.
