The Card
The Dice Tower
This is a special Invention card. It is played from your hand like any other Invention card, and it is worth VP at the end of the game.
- Name: The Dice Tower (printed at the top left of the card).
- Cost: 5 Wood. To play this card, pay 5 Wood tokens (base rulebook, Playing Invention Cards: "You have to pay Wood, Metal, and Movement tokens").
- Type of Invention: Structure. The house symbol in the lower left of the card is the Structure type icon.
- Type of effect: Immediate. Apply the effect as soon as you play this card (base rulebook, Playing Invention Cards: "Immediate: Apply the effect as soon as you play this card.").
- Effect: Take one Objective card from the deck, and immediately take the bonus effect on it.
- Endgame: 4 VP. At the end of the game, this card is worth 4 VP.
- Icon: The lightning-bolt symbol on the card is the Energy icon. The base rulebook states that "a card can also show the Energy icon," and that once a card is played its icons are in your possession.
Notes
- Effect wording. The card face prints its effect as a pictogram: a stack of cards with a paw print and a green check, inside a white panel. The words "Immediate" and "End-game" are not printed on the card face; they come from the BGG item description ("Cost: 5 Wood / Immediate: Take one Objective Card from the deck, and immediately take the bonus effect on it! / End-game: 4 VPs"). The effect is transcribed from that printed description. The pictogram's exact meaning is not spelled out in the base rulebook's icon list, so it is not reinterpreted here.
- Objective cards. The base rulebook states that the remaining Objective cards are placed "to the side of the Board (they may be brought into play by some game effects)." This card is one such effect. The "bonus effect" on an Objective card is the bonus printed on that card; claiming an Objective with a Disc is a separate action (base rulebook, Claiming an Objective). The base rulebook does not separately define "bonus effect" for Objective cards.
- Back of the card. The back shows a light-bulb illustration and two small light-bulb icons in the lower left. It carries no rules text.
