Components

The game contains 200 white cards, 400 black cards and 1 rulebook.

Setup

Deal seven black cards to each player.

The oldest player is the Rackar King (Rackarkungen) in the first round (the old man should have some advantage, after all).

Playing the Game

  1. The Rackar King draws the top white card and reads it aloud.
  2. All players except the Rackar King choose the black card or cards they think fit the white card nicely. Up to three black cards may be needed. The chosen cards are placed face down in the middle of the table.
  3. The Rackar King shuffles the placed cards and reads the completed sentences aloud, one by one, in random order.
  4. The Rackar King then selects, arbitrarily and subjectively, which sentence is really the funniest.
  5. The winner keeps the white card as a point.
  6. After the winner is chosen, all players draw back up to a full hand. In the next round, the player to the left of the former Rackar King becomes the new Rackar King.

Smart players hide their cards from their fellow players. Fools do as they please.

Points and Winning

  • Players may at any time sacrifice one of their points to discard any number of black cards and draw new ones.
  • Players may at any time display their ignorance, discard black cards they do not understand and draw new ones. But they have to live with the shame.

The game's winner is the first player to collect ten points. This lucky so-and-so is thereby titled "a real little rackare".

Good luck, you'll need it!

Variants

Democracy. You may choose to have all players vote for the best sentence. The cards are then shuffled and read aloud anonymously by the Rackar King.

Haiku. When you feel you are finished with the game, all players lay down three black cards and read aloud their poem. The 5-7-5 rule is not so important, but the Haiku match's poem must be read dramatically! The winner is the one who has done best according to the group.

Pro Rules

Warning: these rules may only be followed if all players are classified as pros. If you do not know whether you are a pro, you are not a pro.

The white cards have special symbols with the following consequences. The symbols are pictograms printed on the cards; they are described here in order from top to bottom as printed on the rules sheet.

  • Symbol 1 (a face with two eyes above a solid lower half): Two points to the card's winner.
  • Symbol 2 (a face with two eyes above a slanted wedge): All players immediately discard any black card of their choice and then draw a new black card.
  • Symbol 3 (a face with two arched eyes above a solid dome): A penalty for the card's winner. The winner of this card is thus in fact a loser. The penalty is decided by all players together before the game, to make it even more exciting.
