Components
- 88 waste cards:
- 80 "Waste 1" cards (4 colours × 20). Each counts as 1 unit of garbage.
- 8 "Waste 2" cards (4 colours × 2). Each counts as 2 units of garbage.
- The four waste types are: Bottles & Cans (red), PET Bottles (green), Recycled Appliances (white), and Plastic (blue).
- 28 reward cards: 4 colours × 7 cards each, with values 0, 1, 2, 3, -2, 4, 5.
- 4 processing site cards (one for each colour). Each site card shows the reward-stacking hint, the reward icon ("get reward at 4 or more"), the end-game icon ("when this appears, the game ends") and the scoring icon ("score at 2 or more").
Setup
- Lay the 4 processing site cards side by side in a row, all facing the same way.
- On top of each processing site card, stack the reward cards of the same colour face up, in this order from the top: 0, 1, 2, 3, -2, 4, 5.
- Shuffle all 88 waste cards well. Deal each player 3 waste cards face down. These are the player's hand. Keep your hand hidden from the other players.
- Place the remaining waste cards face down beside the table as the draw pile.
- Form the waste dump area: draw cards from the draw pile one at a time and place each face up in the waste dump area (randomly placed).
- Decide the first player by rock-paper-scissors or any other method, and start the game.
Turn Order
The game is played clockwise. On your turn, carry out steps 1 to 3 below in order.
Turn Procedure
1. Play Waste Cards to the Processing Site Area (Obtaining Reward Cards)
On your turn, you must play waste cards from your hand to the processing site area matching their colour.
- If the cards are of the same colour, you may play any number of them at once. You may also choose to play only some of them, for example 2 of 3.
- You may not play cards of two or more colours in a single turn.
- When you play cards, count the total amount of garbage shown on the cards in that processing site area. Count the number of units of garbage, not the number of cards. This total includes garbage already in the area plus the garbage you just played.
If the processing site area has 4 or more units of garbage:
- Take the top reward card from that processing site's stack and keep it. Keep your reward cards sorted by colour, face up in front of you.
- Then discard all waste cards in that processing site's waste dump area.
- Note: Waste 1 cards count as 1 unit and Waste 2 cards count as 2 units.
- Note: With 4 or more units, you may have 5, 6 or more; this is allowed. However, no matter how much garbage the processing site has, you may only obtain 1 reward card.
If the processing site area has 3 or fewer units of garbage:
- You get no reward card.
- The waste cards in the processing site area stay where they are.
2. Take the Waste Dump Area Cards (Illegal Dumping Check)
Whether or not you obtained a reward card, if you played waste cards to a processing site area, you must take all the cards in the waste dump area of that processing site card and add them to your hand.
After taking the cards, check the number of cards in your hand. This is the illegal dumping check.
- If your hand has more than 5 cards (6 or more), you must illegally dump the excess.
- You freely choose the cards to illegally dump (the number of cards over 5), and place them face down in front of you.
- These cards stay in front of you until the end of the game. Each card is worth -1 point at the end of the game.
Diagram: steps 1 and 2. The flow is: (1) play one colour of cards; (2) the processing site area now has 4 or more units, so take the reward; (3) add all the cards from the waste dump area to your hand; (4) any cards above the hand limit of 5 are illegally dumped and placed in front of you. The sheet shows -1 point for each such card.
3. Refill the Waste Dump Area
After you take the cards from a waste dump area, refill it from the draw pile.
- The number of cards to refill is: the number of units of garbage in that processing site area + 1.
- Draw that many cards from the draw pile and place them face up in that waste dump area.
- Example: if the processing site area has 3 units of garbage, you draw 4 cards (3 + 1) and place them in the waste dump area.
- If the draw pile runs out, shuffle the discard pile well and use it as the new draw pile.
- Then play passes clockwise to the next player.
End of Game
The game ends when the reward cards of any one processing site have run out.
Even when the game ends, take the waste cards from the waste dump area as in step 2 above, and if your hand has more than 5 cards, carry out illegal dumping for the excess.
Scoring
- Sort the reward cards you obtained by colour.
- If you have only one reward card of a colour, that reward card must be discarded. You score for a colour only if you hold 2 or more reward cards of that colour.
- Add the numbers on the reward cards left in front of you. These count as points.
- Subtract 1 point for each illegally dumped card.
- Bonus for good contractors: a player who did not illegally dump a single card receives the "Good Contractor Bonus" according to the number of players who did so:
| Number of good contractors | 1 player | 2 players | 3 players |
|---|---|---|---|
| Points | 3 | 2 | 1 |
The player with the highest total wins. In case of a tie, the player with fewer illegally dumped cards ranks higher. If still tied, the players share the victory.
