Game Contents
- A game board.
- 4 wooden player pawns.
- 16 wooden bushes.
Goal of the Game
Be the first to reach one of the squares on the row opposite your own starting row.
Rules for 2 Players
At the start of the game, the bushes are shared between the players and placed on each side of the board (8 per player).
Each player takes one pawn from a pair of animals facing each other on the board:
rabbit / frog
or
cat / squirrel.
Each player places their pawn in the center of their starting row; each pawn's starting row is marked by a picture of the animal on the side of the box (see below).
The Different Starting Zones (outer edges of the box)
The goal of each player is to reach the row opposite their starting row. The finish is symbolized by the animal's favorite environment (the pond for the frog, the carrot field for the rabbit, etc.). A random draw determines who goes first.
The Different Finish Zones (inner edges of the box)
Playing a Turn
On their turn, each player chooses either to move their pawn or to place one of their bushes. Once a player has no more bushes, they must move their pawn.
Moving Pawns
Pawns move one square at a time, horizontally or vertically, forwards or backwards, but never diagonally.
Bushes must be gone around: a pawn cannot jump over a bush.
Placing Bushes
- A bush must be placed exactly between 2 blocks of 2 squares.
- Placing bushes is meant to build your own path or to slow down your opponent, but it is forbidden to completely close off their access to their finish row: you must always leave them a solution.
Face to Face
When 2 pawns end up on 2 neighboring squares not separated by a bush, the player whose turn it is may jump over their opponent and land behind them.
If a bush is located behind the opponent, the player may choose to move to the right or to the left of the opponent's pawn instead.
End of the Game
The first player to reach one of the squares on the row opposite their starting row wins the game.
Rules for 3 Players
At the start of the game, each player chooses a pawn and places it on the side of the box where their animal is pictured; each player has 5 bushes. The remaining bush will not be used.
The rules are strictly the same, but you cannot jump over more than one pawn at a time.
Rules for 4 Players
At the start of the game, the 4 pawns are placed in the center of the 4 sides of the board, each pawn placed on the side where its animal is pictured; each player has 4 bushes.
The rules are strictly the same, but you cannot jump over more than one pawn at a time.
