What is the object of Quick Wit?

Be the first player or team to correctly answer questions in each category designated with a letter to spell Quick Wit. There are five categories of questions, representing different areas of thinking and perception.

Who plays, and with what?

Quick Wit may be played by 2-6 teams or individuals age 10 or above. For maximum interaction and enjoyment, players are encouraged to form teams of 2 or more members each.

Game equipment includes: game board; one box containing 6 category cards for reference during game play, over 200 cards with the "u", "k", "c" and "t" questions and over 300 cards with the "i" category questions; 6 playing pieces; timer; timer label; score pad; and die.

Each team receives a playing piece, category card and a score sheet to indicate progress.

In which categories is your wit quick?

The Quick Wit categories and their color codes include:

  • Q (pink octagon): Any Quick Wit Question... wild card, choose any category
  • u (red octagon): Ultimately Logical... logic, reasoning
  • i (yellow octagon): Eye'll Be The Judge... perceptual
  • c (light blue octagon): Communicabulary... vocabulary
  • k (dark blue octagon): Know Nonsense... general knowledge
  • W (orange-red octagon): Any Quick Wit Question... wild card, choose any category
  • i (yellow octagon): Eye'll Be The Judge... perceptual
  • t (green octagon): A Moment's Thought... problem solving

How do you play?

Play begins by the team with the highest roll of the die. A team moves according to number of spots indicated in one roll. A team may move anywhere the lines connect in any single direction (may not reverse path in the same turn), landing on any colored space (octagon or square) or on "Roll Again" (continues roll of die). A team can land on the same spot occupied by another team.

When team stops on a particular space, the team to immediate left selects first card in the box with that question category and reads the question aloud. Reading the question to the entire group and exposing the card to anyone wishing to see the question enhances the fun of the game. However, the answering team is the only one which responds during that turn.

Team has 60 seconds (as measured by timer) to answer question correctly after question has been read. If team answers in 20 seconds or less (measured by line on timer), turn may be continued. Otherwise, only one question per turn is answered.

Note: be wary of questions that are not what they seem to be at first sight!

What's the score?

A player or team receives a Quick Wit "letter" by: 1) landing on a square with a "letter" and answering the question from that category correctly; or 2) by answering two questions correctly from octagons of that color anywhere on the board.

Any category may be chosen after landing on the "Q" or "W" or their color coded octagons (since "Q" and "W" are wild cards).

Winning a letter in either "i" category earns both "i"s.

A scoring sheet is used to keep track of progress. When a team answers a question from a square with a Quick Wit letter, place a check mark in the space immediately below it on the scoring sheet. When a team answers a question from a color coded octagon, place a check below that octagon on the scoring sheet. When a team gets two checks below a colored octagon, it has earned that Quick Wit letter!

The first team to spell Quick Wit by earning all letters in the name wins the game.

Helpful hints

  1. Visual questions should be passed around to other teams or placed on the playing surface for all to see.

  2. Because there may be more than one correct answer to a question, if the group unanimously considers it correct, it should be considered so.

Desire more challenge?

If a team answers a question and another believes that answer to be incorrect, it may challenge. Any team may challenge except the team asking the question. The team with the correct answer (either the challenger or team being challenged) may send the other's playing piece anywhere on board. Team that is incorrect must wait until it's next scheduled turn and answer a question from the category where sent (does not get to roll die). The team with the correct answer automatically earns the next turn in the game, with normal rotation after that.
