Components

  • 66 Trashie cards
  • 6 trash bins

Overview

On the table there are 6 trash bins showing six kinds of Trashies. During the game you will fill these bins by laying Trashie cards beside them. You will also lay some of your cards down in front of yourself. You score points for the Trashies on the cards you laid down if the bins with those Trashies get filled. The player who has the most points at the end of the game wins.

Setup

  • A. Arrange the bins in the order shown in the illustration.
  • B. Shuffle the Trashie cards and place them on the table in a face-down draw pile.
  • C. Deal 5 Trashie cards from the pile to each player. Hold your cards in your hand so that the others cannot see what is on them.
  • D. Take 5 cards from the top of the pile and place them face up on the table; this is the card bank.

Playing the Game

The youngest player begins. Play then continues clockwise. On your turn you carry out the following actions:

1. Take cards from the bank

From the card bank, take all the cards showing one kind of Trashie of your choice. Add them to the cards in your hand.

Example: (a) The player took all the cards with the green Trashie from the bank. (b) He added them to the cards in his hand.

2. Lay out cards (optional)

You may (but don't have to!) lay out from your hand 2 to 6 cards showing the same Trashie. You decide yourself how many of these cards you add to the bin with the same Trashie, and how many you place on the table in front of yourself.

  • You may not place all the cards beside the matching bin, or all the cards in front of yourself. You may lay out 1 to 3 cards beside the bin and 1 to 3 in front of yourself.
  • The cards in front of you are placed in a face-down stack. During the game you may not check what is on them.
  • You may lay out cards with a different Trashie than the one you took.

Example: The player laid out 5 cards with the green Trashie. He placed three cards beside the bin with the green Trashie and two on the table in front of himself (face down).

3. Refill the bank

Add new cards from the draw pile to the bank so that there are 5 cards in the bank.

After carrying out the actions above, your turn ends and the player sitting on your left takes their turn.

End of the Game

The game ends the moment a fifth Trashie card is added to any of the bins. This means the bin is full. The Trashie shown on this bin will give you the most points.

Now check which two further bins are the most filled. The Trashies shown on them will also give you points. If several trash bins are equally filled, you choose the bin which is higher up (see example).

Example: The player added the fifth card to the bin with the orange Trashie. The orange Trashie filled its bin, so the game ends. The purple Trashie filled its bin second (4 cards). Green and yellow share the next position (3 cards each). Green, however, is higher up, so it takes third place.

The cards held in your hands are put back in the box. Reveal the cards lying in front of you on the table and count points as follows:

  • For each card showing the Trashie that took 1st place, you get 2 points.
  • For each card showing the Trashies that took 2nd and 3rd place, you get 1 point.
  • The other Trashie cards give no points.

The player who scored the most points wins.

Scoring example: The player has 8 cards, for which he scored 8 points. Two orange cards give him 4 points (1st place). Three green cards give him 3 points and one purple card gives him 1 point (2nd and 3rd place). The remaining two cards, yellow and blue, give him no points (0 points).

Note! If at the end of your turn you cannot refill the bank to five cards (all the cards in the draw pile have been used up), the game ends without determining which Trashie took 1st place. The three most-filled bins give the players points. Each Trashie card in their color is worth 1 point.

Team Variant

In a 4-player game you may play in 2 teams. Before the game starts, split into teams of 2 players. Players on the same team should sit opposite each other. The game is played as in the basic variant with one difference: instead of laying out cards, you may pass two cards from your hand to your partner. Pass the cards so that the others do not know what is on them. Before scoring, the players forming a team combine the cards they laid down in front of themselves.
