The Aim of the Game
Taking turns, place your counters in one of the three winning positions and prevent your opponent from getting there first.
The Board
The board has two sides: QANGO 6 with 6 x 6 fields, and QANGO 7 with 7 x 7 fields.
The board of QANGO 6 consists of 36 fields, three of which are always linked by the same colour (shown surrounded by a border). That means that there are 12 x 3 colour-linked fields.
Preparation of the Game
The players choose the colours of their counters, place their counters next to the board, and decide who starts.
Playing the Game
The players place one counter of their colour (white or black) in turn on any one of the free fields on the board.
The winner is the player who completes:
- three linked fields of a colour (red, yellow, blue, green, orange) with his/her counters, or
- a square consisting of four adjoining fields, or
- a row of five adjoining fields, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
The game finishes with one of the players winning, or by a draw if all fields are filled.
The loser starts the next game. The players keep their colour.
Variants for QANGO 6
For stronger players we recommend one of the following rules.
The Castle Rule
The opening player may start anywhere except for the "castle". The 8 fields marked (X) are forbidden for the opening counter.
The Tournament Rule
The opening player may start only at the edge. The 16 fields marked (X) are forbidden for the opening counter.
QANGO 7
The rules for QANGO 7 are the same as for QANGO 6.
The only difference is the yellow field in the centre, which does not belong to any of the 3-part groups. It may be occupied and used to win a square or a 5-part row.
When all 40 counters have been placed, the game ends as a draw.
Variants for QANGO 7
For stronger players we recommend one of the following rules. The opening player may start anywhere except for the fields marked (X):
- The Castle Rule
- The Professionals Rule 1
- The Professionals Rule 2
QANGO 7 Plus
The 12 grey fields in the corners do not belong to the board (shown surrounded by a border).
Variants for QANGO 7 Plus
