Basic Rules

Draw one Lying Politician card whenever one or more rewards are received from these Actions: Handling an Emergency, performing an Investigation (final piece of evidence), or Arresting 3 or more Punks (thus getting a Donut). Keep in mind that taking rewards of these types is optional, so if no reward is taken, no Lying Politician Card is drawn.

When you draw the Lying Politician Card, execute the card as it instructs by either playing it immediately or adding it to your hand.

Only cards showing the card-stack symbol (a stack of three cards) can be added to your hand; all others are played immediately.

When the Lying Politician deck runs out you will stop drawing Lying Politician cards but continue to take rewards like normal.

Difficulty Rating

Each card is rated in terms of how "Good" it is (for the cops) or how "Bad" it is (bad cards make their job more difficult). "Good" cards have a blue symbol, while "Bad" cards have a red symbol. These symbols are important in setting up the deck to play. There are two Levels of "Good" cards and two Levels of the "Bad" cards. Level-2 Cards are MORE extreme than Level-1 (more "bad" or more "good").

For example, a red circle containing the number 2 signifies a Level-2 "bad" card.

Set-Up

Preparing to play is very easy. Simply create the starting deck by following these three steps:

Step One: Break your deck into four groups:

  • Level-2 Blue (very good cards)
  • Level-1 Blue (good cards)
  • Level-1 Red (bad cards)
  • Level-2 Red (very bad cards)

Step Two: Randomly select 17 total cards with exact numbers from each group as follows:

  • 2 cards from Level-2 Blue (very good cards)
  • 5 cards from Level-1 Blue (good cards)
  • 7 cards from Level-1 Red (bad cards)
  • 3 cards from Level-2 Red (very bad cards)

Step Three: Shuffle the final deck you've created and place the remaining cards back in the box without viewing.

Card Numbers

Each card in this expansion has its own individual number found in the lower right corner of the card (for example, 01). Next to that number will be a letter which indicates the "set" it came from (for example, A).

This initial set (set A) has 28 cards. Over time we envision this deck growing to be over 100 cards!
