Components
- 28 Plush Toy cards (in 4 colours, each showing one of 4 plushie types and a number 1-7)
- 21 Pillow cards
- 3 Mom cards
- 4 Trump Colour cards
- 4 Player Reference cards (plush-textured cards, each showing one plushie type)
Setup
- Each player chooses the Player Reference card matching the plushie type they want to collect.
- Shuffle the four Trump Colour cards and place them face down in the centre of the table. Flip the top card face up. This is the trump colour for the first round.
- Based on the player count, remove Plush Toy cards (and Mom cards, if applicable) as shown in the table below. Shuffle the remaining Plush Toy cards and deal them evenly to all players.
| Players | Remove these cards | Hand size |
|---|---|---|
| 4 players | None | 7 cards |
| 3 players | All cards with number 7 | 8 cards |
| 2 players | All cards with numbers 5, 6, and 7 + 1 Mom card | 8 cards |
- Shuffle Pillow cards and Mom cards together to form the Pillow Pile. Place it face down nearby for use in later rounds.
- Choose a starting player by any method you prefer (a pillow fight is the best way, but rock, paper, scissors will do!). This player leads the first trick.
Gameplay
Playing a Trick
- The lead player plays any card from their hand. The colour of this card sets the lead colour for the trick.
- Other players, in clockwise order, each play one card. You can play any card from your hand, regardless of the lead colour.
- The trick is won by the player who played the highest number in the trump colour. If no trump colour card was played, the player with the highest number in the lead colour wins. The winner collects all cards from the trick, places them face down in front of them, and leads the next trick.
End of Round
- Each player keeps all Plush Toy cards of their own type collected during the round. Place these face up in front of you, they are yours for the rest of the game and visible to all players.
- Return all other Plush Toy cards to the centre of the table.
- For each card kept this round, add one card from the top of the Pillow Pile face down to the centre of the table.
- Shuffle all cards in the centre of the table and deal each player the same number of cards as in the first round.
- Flip the next Trump Colour card face up for the new round.
Special Cards
Mom Cards
When a Mom card is played the entire trick is set aside. No one wins it and no one keeps any cards from it.
All set-aside cards are shuffled back into the deck at the end of the round.
The player who led the trick leads the next one.
Pillow Cards
Pillow cards enter the game from Round 2 onward through the Pillow Pile.
Each Pillow card has a number and a star rating.
When you play a Pillow card, you must declare any colour except the trump colour. This becomes the colour of that Pillow card for the trick.
If two cards in a trick share the same colour and number, the one with more stars wins.
End Game
If a player collects all Plush Toy cards of their type (7, 6, or 4 depending on player count) during any round, they win instantly!
If no one manages this after 4 rounds, the player with the most plushies of their own type wins.
Tied? Add up the numbers on all your collected plushies, the highest sum wins.
Still tied? Share the victory!
Example
Trump card - trump colour is purple.
Trick 1
Player 1 plays blue 4 (lead colour is blue). Player 2 plays orange 6. Player 3 plays blue 5.
Player 3 wins the trick with the highest number in lead colour, as no trump colour is played.
Trick 2
Player 3 plays first: red 5 (lead colour is red). Player 1 plays purple 4. Player 2 plays purple 5.
Player 2 wins the trick with the highest number in trump colour.
Trick 3
Player 2 plays first: a Pillow card and declares red - this sets the lead colour. Player 3 plays green 7. Player 1 plays a Pillow card and declares red.
No trump colour was played. Player 2 and Player 1 both played red 5, so the tie is broken by stars. Player 1 wins with more stars.
