Dice roller, carrying case, score pad and 2 pencils.
Object
Make words with letter dice and be the first to score 50 points.
How to Play the Game
-
Give each player a score sheet and a pencil.
-
Any player then rolls the letter dice between 2 hands, as shown in Figure 1, and places it on a flat surface for all to see.
Figure 1: a player rolling the letter dice between two hands.
-
All players quickly write down words made from the dice. Word lists are kept secret.
-
How to form valid words:
- Words must have at least 4 letters.
- Words must be spelled correctly.
- Plural words ending in "s" are not allowed.
- No proper nouns, slang, or foreign words are allowed unless they can be found in the dictionary.
- Letters do not have to be adjacent to form words. In Figure 2, blade and tablet are valid words.
- No letter can be used more often than it appears on the dice. In Figure 2, latter is valid because there are two "T's." Ladder is not valid because there is only one "D."
Figure 2: a ring of letter dice, as referenced in the examples above.
-
First player to make 10 words calls "STOP!" (If no one can make 10 words, players may agree to stop play).
-
Players compare words and cross out those found from other players' lists.
-
SCORING
- After common words are eliminated, each word is worth 1 point with a bonus point for every letter used after the fourth letter.
1+ 1+1+1 EXAMPLE: Hist|o|r|y = 4 points
Play the game alone and practice for competitive matches.
Alternate Game
On a dice roll, each player, in turn, makes a word and announces it to the group. Words are recorded and scored. Passing is allowed. When no new words can be made, the player with the highest score wins.
