Setup

  1. Place the victory cubes and the timer in the center of the table.
  2. Create a deck of 8 cards in the center of the table, face down. Note: with 6 or 7 players, add a 9th card.
  3. Depending on the number of players, distribute the screens around the table by color as shown in the box's seating diagram. With fewer players, each screen color is used only once, so every player forms a group of one. As the player count rises, some colors are given to two or three players, so those players form a shared group for the round.
  4. Each player receives 20 black pixels, a red pixel, and a red arrow that are "glued" onto their screen.

Once the screens are distributed, the game is ready to begin.

Forming Groups

The color of a player's screen determines their group for the round. Each group receives one card, which shows two words to be drawn during the round. All members of a group secretly note the first word (the card also shows a category clue for that word, used only if no one guesses it — see Revealing and Scoring below).

Drawing

Each player draws their word alone, without showing their screen to the others.

  • Pixels must be placed exactly in the boxes of the grid.
  • The arrow is the only piece that can be placed freely; it can be used to point out a detail in the drawing.
  • It is forbidden to draw letters or numbers.

Play begins when everyone is ready: "Pix!" and every player starts drawing.

The first player to finish their drawing shouts "Pix!", puts their screen face down, and turns the 30-second timer over. The other players then have 30 seconds to finish their own drawings. When the timer runs out, that same player shouts "Pix!" again, and everyone must immediately place their screen face down on the table.

Revealing and Scoring

Select a first group at random. Each member of that group counts the pixels they used in their drawing: a black pixel counts as 1, the arrow as 2, and the red pixel as 4.

  • The player in the group with the smallest total turns the timer over and displays their drawing, without saying anything or making any gestures.
  • The other players call out their guesses.
    • If someone guesses the word correctly before the timer runs out, that guesser and the drawer each earn a victory cube, and play moves on to the next group.
    • If nobody guesses correctly before the timer runs out, the drawer with the next-lowest pixel total shows their screen next, the timer is turned over again, and guessing continues. This repeats, drawer by drawer, from lowest total to highest.
  • If two or more players in a group have the same pixel total, they show their drawings at the same time and share one timer. If anyone guesses the word while their drawings are shown, each of those tied drawers earns a cube.
  • If the timer runs out after the last drawer in the group has shown their screen and still nobody has guessed the word, the group reveals the clue printed on the card. If a player then guesses the word correctly, only that guesser earns a cube — the drawers do not. If nobody guesses it even after the clue is read, no cube is earned by anyone in that group.

Once every group has revealed and scored their drawings for the first word, the groups play a return match using the second word on their card, following the same drawing, revealing, and scoring procedure. When both words on the card have been played, the round is over.

New Round

To start a new round, each player passes their screen to the left, creating new groups. Each group formed this way draws a new card and the game continues as before: forming groups, drawing, revealing, and scoring both words on the card.

End of Game

The game ends when all the cards have been played. Depending on the number of players, the game lasts 2, 3, or 4 rounds. The player with the most victory cubes wins.
