Components

  • 72 Cards
  • 1 Squeaky Toy Pigasus

Game Setup

  • Shuffle all the cards, and set aside 16 random cards face down to not be used.
  • Place the squeaky Pigasus toy in the middle of the play area within easy reach.
  • The last player to see a pig fly will be the first dealer. If no one admits to this, then the youngest player is the first dealer.

Cards

It is important to understand the cards before starting the game. There are 9 animals/shapes in the game.

The animal cards show "incorrectly" shaped body combinations (the card illustrations show "real" animals, but cards of these will not appear in the game). They make a pair when put together. Animal cards will always show a mix of two animals.

Example: The crocodile shape with a giraffe's skin and head, and the giraffe shape with a crocodile's skin and head.

How to Play

  • The dealer takes the deck of cards, and will reveal cards one by one.
  • Cards are revealed and placed away from the dealer to avoid seeing them before any other players.
  • Be careful not to place the cards so that they cover each other.

Once a pair of cards with animals who have had their bodies exchanged are revealed, all players, including the dealer, try to grab the Pigasus!

The player who grabbed the Pigasus first points at what they believe is the correct matching pair of cards. Depending on whether they made a Right Grab or a Wrong Grab, the following things happen:

Right Grab

The first player to grab the Pigasus AND point at the correct pair of cards collects both of the cards and places them face down in front of them. This player then takes the deck of cards and becomes the dealer. Place the Pigasus back in the middle of the play area.

Wrong Grab

If the Pigasus is grabbed and the grabbing player cannot point to a matching pair of cards, the player who grabbed the Pigasus must put back into the box a number of collected cards equal to the number of players. If they have fewer cards than the number of players, they put back into the box all the cards they have. Place the Pigasus back in the middle of the play area.

Example: If there are 5 players in the game, the player who grabbed the Pigasus without any matching pairs would discard 5 cards.

Note: Touching the Pigasus lightly without grabbing it is considered a Wrong Grab — be careful! Also, you may not grab for the Pigasus unless you think you can see a matching pair. But if you see a pair that someone missed after someone had a Wrong Grab, any player may go for that missed pair after the Pigasus is back on the table!

Simultaneous Grab

When multiple players grab at the same time, the player holding the biggest part of the Pigasus wins the grab. If more than one player has an equal hold on the biggest part of the Pigasus, and are both pointing at a correct pair of cards, both players score a card each! In any dispute, the majority decision of the players will determine the outcome, with the dealer being the tiebreaker.

End of the Game

After the last card is revealed, and potentially scored, players will add up their cards. The player with the most collected cards is the winner!

In the rare case of a draw, the tied players will continue to reveal cards from the 16 set aside cards until someone scores. This player is the winner.

Team Play

Players can play in teams! When playing in teams, each team is considered to be a single player (anyone from the team can grab the Pigasus and anyone can be the Dealer) — all collected cards go to a single pile. Wrong Grabs are paid from the team's common collected cards.
