Overview

PERSPECTIVES is a cooperative investigation game in 4 Acts. Acts 1-3 are folders of 12 cards each, and Act 4 is an empty folder.

Do not look at the cards before playing.

Game Rules

First, read Act 1's Introduction aloud. Then, check that the 12 cards are in ascending order and deal them facedown one by one, proceeding clockwise. Next, each player looks at their cards secretly.

For example, in a 3-player game: the first has cards 1, 4, 7, and 10; the second has cards 2, 5, 8, and 11; and the third has cards 3, 6, 9, and 12.

Then, each player describes to the others what they see on their cards (without showing them). Take the time to describe what you observe, compare your hypotheses, and share your deductions.

At any time, you can collectively decide to reveal 1 of the 12 cards for free, placing it faceup in the center of the table. You may reveal more cards, but you lose 1 point for each additional card revealed.

When all of you think you know the answer to the question in the Introduction, set the 12 cards aside, facedown, then answer the four questions on the back of the folder (the 4th question is the main one, asked in the Introduction).

Then, open the folder to read the Answers, tally your points and read the Solution. Finally, stow the 12 cards in the folder and successively play Acts 2 and 3, repeating the same steps.

To play Act 4, read the Introduction aloud and place all cards from the previous Acts in the center of the table faceup. Then, after discussing, set these cards aside facedown, answer the four questions, and read the Solution.

At the end of the game, tally the team's points:

0-5 pts: Don't despair! Read our recommendations.
6-10 pts: Your potential is considerable; sharpen your observation skills.
11-15 pts: You are an elite team; your success is exceptional.
16 pts: Sherlock Holmes would love to make your acquaintance.

Now, it's your move! Take the Act 1 folder of the case and read the Introduction aloud.

Work together to solve the cases. Cross-reference photographs, reports, and clues… without looking at the documents of your team players! Will you find the detail connecting all the pieces of the puzzle?
