Variant 2: Teams of 4 to 8 Players

1. Setup

Form 2 teams (green and yellow). The game lasts as many rounds as the number of players in the largest team. Each team chooses one leader per round. 4 shared word cards are placed in the centre.

Each leader receives:

  • 1 board
  • 1 marker
  • 7 clue cards
  • 3 colour tokens

2. Playing a Round

The leaders prepare 3 piles of clues and tick 3 words they want their team to guess on their board. They reveal their 3 piles simultaneously.

Turn by Turn

  • The green team plays first by proposing a word, and its leader indicates (yes/no) whether that word is one of the 3 they chose:
    • If the word is correct, a green token is placed on that word.
    • If the word was chosen by the other leader, a yellow token is placed on the word (so 2 tokens can end up on the same word).
  • Then the yellow team plays. Teams take alternating turns until one team has placed its 3 tokens. That team then wins the round. (If both teams win at the same time, the team that proposed the final word wins the round.)
  • The team that lost the round begins the next one.

3. End of Game

  • The team that has won the most rounds wins the game.
  • In case of a tie, one additional round is played to break the tie between the teams.

Variant 1: Cooperative Format, 2 to 4 Players

1. Setup

Each player takes:

  • 1 board
  • 1 marker
  • 7 clue cards
  • 4 word cards (light or dark side, your choice)

Place 10 error tokens in the centre.

Number of rounds per game:

  • 2 players: 4 rounds
  • 3 players: 3 rounds
  • 4 players: 2 rounds

Playing a Round (Both Variants)

The sections below are printed on the second side of the sheet without a variant heading, and are presented here as applying to both variants.

Guessing the Words

Each player uses their 7 clue cards to identify 3 words to have guessed among the 12 words on their 4 word cards. They create 3 piles of clues (each containing at least one card) from their 7 clue cards. Then they secretly tick the spaces of the 3 chosen words on their board.

Deduction Phase

  • The first leader is designated: they reveal their 3 piles of clue cards and their 4 word cards.
  • The other players confer and propose one word at a time. After each proposal:
    • The leader indicates whether the word is one of the 3 they ticked (yes/no), without giving any further explanation.
    • A wrong answer flips over one error token.
  • Players continue until 3 proposals have been made.
  • Once the 3 proposals have been made, the leader may debrief their teammates about their choices.
  • Then it is the next player's turn (to the left) to reveal their cards and have their words guessed.
  • When all players have had their words guessed, the round ends.

Prohibition: It is forbidden to deliberately use the order of the clue cards within the piles to give an indication of how relevant the clues are (for example, arranging them from most to least relevant).

Following Rounds

  • The next round begins with 7 new clue cards and 4 word cards.
  • If error tokens remain unflipped after all rounds, the players have won the game.

Example

1. Joël has the following 4 word cards:

2. and the following 7 clue cards: MIAM, CONFLICTUEL, À ÉVITER, FROID, MYSTÉRIEUX, DRÔLE, CHAUD.

3. He makes 3 piles to have 3 words guessed:

  • Pile 1: FROID, À ÉVITER. Leads to Zombie.
  • Pile 2: MIAM, CONFLICTUEL, DRÔLE. Leads to Kim Jung-Un.
  • Pile 3: MYSTÉRIEUX, CHAUD. Leads to Caraïbes.

4. He secretly ticks the spaces for these 3 words on his board (Zombie, Kim Jung-Un and Caraïbes).

5. The deduction phase then begins.
