The Object of PARTY POOPER
Players earn points by correctly guessing which person the Party Host has selected as the Party Animal, or the Party Pooper. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins PARTY POOPER!
Setting Up
- Remove either card tray from the box and place a handful of scoring chips in the bowl.
- Choose a player to be the first host. All other players are considered guests for the round. The role of host rotates clockwise to the next player after each round.
- Place the card tray and party cube in front of the first host.
Playing the Game
- The host rolls the party cube to determine if he or she will be selecting a Party Animal or a Party Pooper. A Party Animal would be the person most likely to… and a Party Pooper would be the person least likely to…
- The host draws an event card from the front of the card tray and reads the scenario aloud. The host takes a second to secretly determine who he or she will select as the Party Pooper (or Party Animal). At the same time, each guest secretly determines who they think the host will select.
- The host may select any of the players, including him or herself. Each guest may also select any of the players, including him or herself.
- The scenarios on the event cards are all hypothetical. Players should simply respond as if each situation is real and possible. For example, if the card reads "Your teenage daughter…" players should respond as if all players were parents with teenage daughters.
- All players signify that they are ready. For example, players might point their index fingers straight up. The host says "One, two, three, POINT!" Simultaneously, on the word "POINT," the host, and each guest, point to one of the players.
- The host points to the person he or she selected.
- Each guest points to the person he or she thinks the host has selected.
- To score the round, each guest who pointed to the same person as the host takes two chips from the bowl and gives one to the host and keeps one. Players who pointed to someone other than the person picked by the host do not take any chips. The chips represent points.
- The host places the event card in the back of the card tray and passes the tray to the player to the left. That person becomes the host for the next round. All other players become the guests.
- Play continues following steps 1–5 until each player has been the host the required number of times. With 4–6 players, each player is the host three times, and for games with 7–10 players, each player is the host twice.
Winning the Game
The player with the most points at the end of the game wins PARTY POOPER!
In the event of a tie, the players with tied scores share the victory!
Party Pooper Variations
The Picky Host
The host reads the event card and then decides if he or she wants to identify a Party Animal or a Party Pooper. The host places the party cube so that it indicates his or her choice, either the Party Animal or the Party Pooper, and play continues as usual.
Thumbs-Up
In this version of PARTY POOPER, the players compete to guess how many of the players, including themselves, would be either a Party Pooper or Party Animal for the scenario on the event card.
- Choose a player to be the first host. The host rolls the party cube and then draws an event card and reads it aloud.
- Each player determines if he or she would be a Party Animal or a Party Pooper for the scenario that was read aloud.
- Each player determines how many of the players, including him or herself, would be Party Animals, or Party Poopers, depending on the roll of the party cube. Without revealing the number to the other players, each player draws that number of chips from the bowl and holds them in a closed fist on the table.
- For example, Party Animal was rolled and Terry believes that four of the six players in the game will identify themselves at Party Animals, so she takes four chips from the bowl.
- The host says "One, two, three, Party Animals!" or "One, two, three, Party Poopers!" depending on the roll of the party cube. Simultaneously, on the words "Party Animals" or "Party Poopers" each player who identified themselves as such, gives a thumbs-up.
- For example, the host says "One, two, three, Party Animals!" and four players give a thumbs-up.
- Each player reveals the number of chips he or she took from the bowl. If that number matches the number of players with thumbs-up, that player keeps one chip.
- Play continues following steps 1–5 until each person has been the host the required number of times. With 4–6 players, each player is the host three times, and for games with 7–10 players, each player is the host twice.
