Components

  • 1 double-sided park board: basic side (20 spaces), advanced side (28 spaces)
  • 8 object tokens
  • 8 tyrannosaur tokens
  • 4 dinosaurs
  • 1 meteorite
  • 1 die

Cooperation

The game has no competition between players, because everyone has a shared goal. Discuss the situation on the board and decide together what should be done. Parents will enjoy helping their charges, and children will practise memory and logical thinking.

Goal of the Game

Bring as many dinosaurs as possible to their enclosures before time runs out (time is measured by the meteorite).

Setup

Before the first game, stick the stickers onto the die.

  1. Take all components out of the box.
  2. Place the board on the bottom of the box with the basic side (20 spaces) face up.
  3. Set aside the 8 tyrannosaur tokens. They are used in the variant described at the end of the rules.
  4. Turn the object tokens face down and mix them thoroughly. Then place them, without peeking, in the middle of the board.
  5. Place the 4 dinosaurs on the starting spaces (the red dinosaur on the red space, the brown dinosaur on the brown space, and so on).
  6. Place the meteorite on the first space of the meteorite track.
  7. Give the die to the youngest player. That player starts the game.

Playing the Game

On your turn, roll the die and move any one dinosaur forward by as many spaces as rolled. Dinosaurs always move clockwise. A dinosaur cannot end its move on a space occupied by another dinosaur, but it may pass through that space.

If a dinosaur stops on a space with an object, reveal one of the tokens lying in the middle of the board.

Same pictures? If the picture on the revealed token is the same as the picture on the space the dinosaur has just moved onto, nothing happens. The dinosaur has passed safely.

Different pictures? If the revealed picture does not match, move the meteorite 1 space to the right. You now have less time to save the dinosaurs!

Starting space of another colour? If a dinosaur stops on a starting space of a different colour, it is safe there. Do not reveal a token, so you do not risk moving the meteorite.

Starting space of the dinosaur's own colour? If a dinosaur completes a full circuit and returns to its own starting space (by stopping on it or passing it), it is saved! Remove it from the board. You no longer need to reveal tokens for it.

At the end of your move, cover the revealed token face down again. The player sitting to your left then begins their turn: they roll the die and move any dinosaur.

Tip: Ask the other players which dinosaur is best to move. The final decision, however, is yours.

End of the Game

The game ends when either:

  • all dinosaurs have been saved (returned to their starting spaces), or
  • the meteorite reaches the last space of its track. Unfortunately, you did not save all the dinosaurs. Try again!

Variants

When you have saved all the dinosaurs in the basic game, we recommend increasing the difficulty with the variants below.

Tyrannosaurs

At the start of the game, add 1 tyrannosaur token to the object tokens, mix them, and place them face down in the middle of the board (without peeking).

If you manage to save all the dinosaurs, add 2 tyrannosaur tokens in the next game, and so on. A game with 8 tyrannosaurs is a real challenge!

When you reveal a tyrannosaur token, place it on the first free space behind the dinosaur that has just moved. A free space is one with no pawn, no other tyrannosaur token, and which is not a starting space. A tyrannosaur blocks the space it occupies: no dinosaur may end its move on it, although a dinosaur may still pass through it. In addition, move the meteorite 1 space to the right.

Example: Jurek moved the purple dinosaur onto the amber space and reveals a tyrannosaur. He places it on the first free space behind the purple dinosaur. It cannot be placed on a starting space or on a space occupied by a dinosaur. Finally, he moves the meteorite 1 space to the right.

If no dinosaur can move (the result on the die allows moves only onto blocked spaces), the game ends. Unfortunately, you did not save all the dinosaurs. Try again!

Shorter Game Time

Shorten the game by starting with the meteorite on the second, third, or a later space of its track. How many dinosaurs will you be able to save?

Advanced Side of the Board

Play on the advanced side of the board, which has 28 spaces. The dinosaurs have a longer route to travel. Place the object tokens (and possibly the tyrannosaurs) on the table next to the board.

Reverse Direction

Dinosaurs always move counterclockwise. The order of the objects will now be different.
