Character Cards

Each character card below is used together with the base game. Its printed abilities are given verbatim.

Civil Engineer

  • Always place your pawn on the line connecting two cities. For all purposes, you are considered to be in both cities. Choose which city you are considered to be in when performing each action.
  • Carriage/Boat: Move your pawn from your current connection to an adjacent connection.
  • You can only Build Railroad on your current connection.

Palliative Care Nurse

  • When you move (by any method), you may bring 1 disease cube with you.
  • As an action, you may attract 1 cube from each connected city. After that, Treat as many cubes as necessary so that an outbreak does not occur.
  • As an action at a Hospital, you can treat all the cubes of the same color as the Hospital.

Student

  • Place 1 railroad token, 1 purification token, or 1 treated cube on this card when another player performs the corresponding action in a region adjacent to you (You cannot have identical tokens or cubes). Then, you may also take 1 move action (by carriage/boat, train, or ship).
  • On your turn, you can place those tokens, and return cubes you have to the reserve to Treat Disease of the same color, for free.

University Professor

  • Once per turn, as an action, draw 1 random, unused (in the setup) Event card and place it on top of this Character card. (You may not do this if there is already an Event card here.)
  • To play any Event cards, you must also have a City card matching the color of a city in an adjacent region.
  • Remove Event cards you play from the game.

Time Traveller

  • At the beginning of your turn (before doing actions), draw your 2 Player cards (not later) and place the Infection cards (that you'll use for Infection Step) face-up, in order.
  • As an action, look at the next 2 cards in the Infection Deck. You may swap 1 of them for 1 of the visible Infection cards.
  • Your hand limit of cards is 9.
