Components

  • 1 Crow (game piece)
  • 1 game board
  • 16 fruit tokens
  • 4 baskets
  • 1 die
  • Rulebook

Before the first game, carefully punch the cardboard components out of their frames.

Game Description

Players roll the die and try to find a fruit whose colour matches the result of the die. If the colour matches, the player takes that fruit. If the Crow comes up on the die, it moves one space closer to the orchard. Players must collect all the fruit before the Crow reaches the orchard and feasts on the fresh fruit.

Setup

Each player takes a basket.

Mix the fruit tokens and lay them face down in a 4 by 4 square. Tokens must not be placed on top of each other.

Place the game board next to the fruit tokens as shown in the illustration. Place the Crow on the first space of the track and put the die next to the game board.

Turn Order

Play proceeds clockwise.

The first player is the one who most recently saw the Crow. If you cannot determine such a player, the youngest player goes first. The first player rolls the die.

What Is On the Die?

Colour

Reveal any fruit token next to the board. If the fruit's colour matches the result of the die, place that token in your basket. If it does not match, show it to the other players, then turn it face down and return it to its place.

Fruit Basket

Excellent! Name any fruit and reveal any fruit token next to the board. If the token shows the named fruit, place it in your basket. If it does not, show it to the other players, then turn it face down and return it to its place.

Crow

What bad luck! The Crow moves one space forward. You may not reveal any fruit tokens in this turn.

Ending Your Turn

After you have revealed a token or moved the Crow, pass the turn to the next player clockwise. It is now that player's turn to roll the die.

End of the Game

If the players collect all the fruit tokens before the Crow reaches the last space, all the players win together, and the greedy Crow is left empty-handed.

If the Crow reaches the last space and enters the orchard before you have collected all the fruit tokens, the crafty Crow eats all the fruit. But you can try again!

Variant: Who Has More?

The game follows the same rules with some changes. As you collect tokens into your basket, stack them in piles.

If you collect all the fruit tokens before the Crow reaches the last space, compare your stacks of fruit tokens. The player with the tallest stack wins. In case of a tie, the tied players win together.
