Equipment

  • 1 Numerix board
  • 3 ordinary six-sided dice
  • 6 playing pieces per player

Objective

To be the last player left in the game.

Setup

Each player starts with all of his pieces in front of them and off the board.

Players each roll 3 dice. The player with the highest roll takes the first turn, and play then proceeds clockwise.

Your Turn

First, roll the 3 dice.

You may then do one of two things:

  • PLACE ONE OF YOUR PIECES ON THE BOARD, on a square of the same number as one of the dice rolled.

OR

  • MOVE ONE OF YOUR PIECES ALREADY ON THE BOARD, to any ADJACENT square of the same number as one of the dice rolled.

Captures and moves may be made to ANY of the eight orthogonally or diagonally adjacent squares.

If you can possibly move, you must.

YOU MAY NOT move or place a piece into a space where it would be captured immediately, even if doing so would allow you to capture a piece.

Capturing

If at any point you have 3 pieces in squares adjacent to an enemy piece, you capture that piece.

Elimination

If at any time you have only 3 pieces left, you are out of the game and your remaining pieces are removed from the board.

Two-Player Variant

When playing a game with only two players, it is recommended that you use 9 playing pieces per player instead, for a longer, more tactical game.

Team Play

If playing with four or six players, team games become possible. To play in this way, players have their own pieces and turns as normal, but may work together to capture opposing team's pieces. The last team still in the game wins.

The Board

The board is a 6 x 6 grid of squares, each numbered from 1 to 6. The numbering is as follows (rows read left to right, top to bottom):
