Goal of the Game

Improvise stories from the situations given, while placing one or more imposed words without the other players finding them. The player who holds the Nonsense trophy at the end of the last round has won.

Setup

Each player takes a pencil and a sheet of paper. The two decks of cards are placed in the centre of the table, face down.

Playing the Game

The oldest player draws a "word" card and secretly chooses one word from the six offered. On this card he reads, for example: 1) mazout 2) artère 3) massage 4) saucisse 5) navette spatiale 6) crayons. The player decides to take number 4) saucisse. He keeps the word secret but tells everyone the number of the word he chose.

His left-hand neighbour then draws a "situations" card and chooses one situation from the 4 offered, for example B) un fou rire vous prend en pleine réunion... ("a fit of laughter takes you in the middle of a meeting..."), and reads it aloud.

The hourglass is turned over. The player has one minute to invent a story based on the situation B) "un fou rire vous prend en pleine réunion..." and to place the word saucisse in it.

While he tells his story, the other players may note all the words that seem suspicious to them. At the end of the minute, every opponent must clearly write down the word they believe is the correct one (without consulting each other, of course!).

In turn, the opponents name the word that seemed most suspicious to them in the story. At the end, the player reveals the word he had chosen.

Scoring

  • For each placed word that was not found, the improviser scores 50 points.
  • Each player who found the placed word(s) in the improviser's story scores 25 points per word found.

Rounds and the Trophy

  • At the end of the first round, the player in the lead receives the Nonsense trophy.
  • When all players have tried to place 1 word in their story, the next round places two words, and so on, up to 4 words.
  • The number of rounds may be set in advance.
  • At the end of each round, the Nonsense trophy is given to the player with the most points, so at any moment you can see who is in the lead.
  • The holder of the trophy may change their word card if it does not suit them, but only once per round.
  • The winner is the player who proudly holds the trophy at the end of the last round.
  • If two players are tied during the game, the trophy is given to the last player who played.
  • If there is a tie at the end of the game, the tied players play a round of turns with 5 words to place, to break the tie. Only the points from this tie-break round are counted.

Remark

Players must not stray too far from the theme. It is also forbidden to make off-topic enumerations.

Recap

  • Word placed and not found = 50 points for the improviser.
  • Word placed and found = 25 points for the listener.
