What's New?
This sheet brings you to Nightfall rules v.1.31.
- Avatars bring you yourself into the fray.
- Attacking minions may take damage.
Avatars
There are now avatar cards which are used to represent who the players are in the game. Players should aim to play with avatars that match their personality. Playing with the avatars is completely optional.
If the avatars are going to be used, the first steps of setup are to shuffle the avatars, deal them out evenly to the players (returning extras to the box) and drafting all of them by picking an avatar to place face-down and passing the rest, repeating until all cards have been selected. These cards are kept face-down until after the commons and private archives have been drafted.
After the main draft, each player selects one of their avatars (or opts not to use one), placing it face-up in front of them and returning the others to the box. Then players construct their starter decks if they are mixing multiple starter sets.
Damage to Attacking Minions
Some cards in Dark Rages inflict damage on an attacking minion. If an attacking minion is destroyed from this damage, its attack is completely negated.
Note however that this does not allow defending players to change their blocker assignments.
Supplemental FAQ
Blitz (DR): The kicker does indeed allow you to claim outside of your turn.
Bloodpact (DR): Players must still pay the normal cost of the cards to claim them.
Body Armor (DR): Attaching multiple copies to a single minion does not provide any additional benefit as there is only one "first 2 damage".
Canal Refuse (DR): The defender must assign 2 blockers to Canal Refuse to avoid the wound.
"Cane Alpino" (DR): The attacking player declares the order of the attacks prior to the defending player declaring blockers as the order may matter.
"Ghost One" (promo): While this card is in play, any action that would be attached to a minion is discarded instead. The kicker does indeed allow you to claim outside of your turn.
Ground Assets (DR): The kicker references the active player's cards in the chain, not those already in play.
Les Revenants (DR): If you have less than 2 minions in your discard pile, place as many as you can. Regardless how many you place into play, always receive 2 wounds.
Priest (DR): If all defending players activate this combat effect, the attacking player may not assign attackers nor resolve any "when this card attacks" effects. The attacking player simply moves to the end of the Combat Phase and discards their minions.
Regeneration (DR): This is activated once for each minion blocked by the attached minion (yes, there is a very nasty combo out there).
Voodoo Houngan (Hunter) (DR): The 2 cards are in addition to any cards drawn due to resolving the wound effect.
What Should Not Be (DR): There is an online FAQ at www.nightfallgame.com/faq—feel free to ask any questions you may have.
