Components

48 Nessie cards (6 different types A-F) 36 treasure cards (values 1, 2, 3) 6 summary cards.

Game Setup

Deal one summary card to each participant. Shuffle the Nessie and treasure cards together face down, and place them in the center of the table forming a deck.

How to Play

Take turns playing. The last person to swim in a lake starts the game.

On your turn, take the top card of the deck and place it face up next to the deck. You can continue to reveal as many cards as you like, one at a time, and place them next (fig.1), until you stick or sink. You must always reveal at least 1 card. In case the deck runs out, shuffle the discard pile to form a new deck and the game continues.

(figure 2)

Each time you stick, you can take as many revealed cards as you like, one by one and starting with the last one revealed (fig.2). The ones you leave will be left for the next player's turn, who will continue from there. When you're done taking cards, pass the turn to the player on your left.

When taking a card:

  • If it is a treasure, keep it face up in front of you.
  • If it is your first Nessie card, keep it face up in front of you. If you already have a Nessie card in front of you, check with your summary card that you can add the card you just took to it: you can add it if it is adjacent to a card you already have (no duplicates are allowed nor does it need to have the exact illustration shown in your summary card). If you cannot add the card you just took, discard it and also discard one of your treasures (if you have any).

You sink immediately when one of these two conditions is met, and you can no longer stick:

  • The values of the revealed treasure cards add up to 6 or more.
  • There are 3 Nessie cards with the same letter (A-F) among the ones in front of you and the revealed cards from the deck. If this happens at the beginning of your turn, pass the turn to the player on your left (and you don't reveal a card).

Each time you sink, discard all revealed cards, and pass the turn to the player on your left.

(sinking example: revealed cards are discarded)

End of the Game

The game ends immediately when someone has 6 Nessie cards with different letters (they don't need to be the exact illustrations shown on your summary card!). Then, tally the points:

  • Whoever has completed Nessie, flips their summary card and gets 10 additional points.
  • Each participant adds up the values of their treasures.

The winner of the game is the one who gets the most points. In case of a tie, whoever has completed Nessie wins. If a tie persists, share the victory!

Gameplay Reminder

Goal To have more points at the end of the game.

Game setup Deal a summary card to each player. Form the deck.

How to play Take turns. On your turn, reveal cards until you stick or sink.

If you stick, take revealed cards and keep them face up in front of you.

If you sink, discard all the revealed cards. You sink when:

  • Revealed treasures add up to 6 or more.
  • There are 3 revealed Nessie cards with the same letter (including yours!)

In either case, pass the turn to the player on your left.

End of the game The game ends immediately when a player has all 6 Nessie cards in front of them. Then tally points:

  • If you completed Nessie, +10 points.
  • Each treasure gives you the indicated points.

Whoever has more points wins the game.
