Skirmish Thermopylae (Setup Sheet)
The setup sheet shows six map layouts, arranged by player count, and a terrain legend. The English title printed on the sheet is "Skirmish Thermopylae". Each map layout is a graphic only; the sheet prints no written placement rules beyond the captions below.
Player Counts
Each row of the sheet is headed by a figure showing the number of players and the helmet icons in the player colours used for that row.
| Players | Helmet icons (player colours) | Layouts shown |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Red, blue | Setup A, Setup B |
| 3 | Red, blue, green | Setup A, Setup B |
| 4 | Red, blue, orange, green | Setup A, Setup B |
Setup A and Setup B
The sheet prints two captions, Setup A and Setup B, above the left and right columns of map images. Each caption heads one map per player count, so there are two maps for each of 2, 3 and 4 players. Each map is a graphic showing the battlefield with the coloured edge regions described below, and a set of red numbered markers spread across the battlefield. The sheet prints no key or text explaining the markers or the coloured regions. See the Gaps section.
Terrain Legend
The legend is printed under the title "Skirmish Thermopylae" and shows the following features, each with an icon:
- Normal Boundary: a thin white line between map areas.
- Escarpment: a raised stone-ledge boundary.
- Highs: a boundary marked with a downward-pointing triangle.
- Impassable: an area shown in dark red-bordered terrain.
- Open ground: a grey circular icon with the number 5.
- Rock: a red icon with the number 2.
- Forest: a green icon with the number 4.
The sheet prints the numbers on the Open ground, Rock and Forest icons but does not explain them. Their meaning is given by the base game rulebook.
Resistance at Thermopylae (Scenario)
The scenario panel is titled "Resistance at Thermopylae". Its headings are "Forces", "Setup", "Victory" and "Special Rules". The panel's flavour text is not transcribed.
Forces
- Army player. The heading reads "Army player". Beneath it the panel has a line naming the troop types, which reads roughly as "Troops: [?] Spartans, [?] hoplites and [illegible]". The panel then states that the Army player's deck is constructed as [?] normal. [?] The panel also says the Army player is the lead player.
- Hades player. The heading reads "Hades player" [?]. Beneath it the panel has a troops line, of which [?] "infernal" and [illegible] are the only words that can be picked out. A final line in the same block refers to the Hades player's [illegible] [illegible], which could not be read.
Setup
- All units are placed as marked on the map.
The scenario panel's map is printed on the right of the panel but is too small and blurred to read the unit positions from. The positions are not transcribed here. See the Gaps section.
Victory
- The Army player wins if he [illegible] [illegible] [illegible].
- The Hades player wins if he [illegible] [illegible] [illegible].
The wording of both victory conditions is blurred in the photograph. The paragraph breaks and most words are not legible, so the conditions are not transcribed.
Special Rules
The Special Rules panel has four headed entries. Their bodies are blurred in the photograph and only fragments can be read.
Unfavourable Place
[illegible] player [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] a [illegible] [illegible] [illegible], [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible], apart from that, they [?] play normally.
If a unit of this [illegible] is temporarily [illegible], it [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible].
Final Rampage
[illegible] cannot [illegible] [illegible].
Wall of Corpses
This area is marked as a Rock and [?] follows all the normal rules for one. In this scenario it has additional rules. [illegible]
Bonus effects
This entry is a bulleted list with two bullets.
- When a unit [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] of the [illegible] [illegible] adjacent to this area, [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] after a [illegible] attack.
- A unit or [illegible] of the [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] enters the area of [illegible] [illegible], [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible].
Gaps
The following could not be transcribed with confidence from the supplied sources. Nothing in these sections has been filled in from memory or from the base game.
- Scenario panel as a whole: the panel is a blurred photograph of the box contents, cropped and upscaled. Only its headings and some block titles are reliably legible.
- Flavour text and the panel's date and location lines: not transcribed. The flavour is not legible, and the flavour text is excluded from this transcription.
- Forces block: the troop names and the rules sentences beneath "Army player" and "Hades player" are only partly legible. Words marked [?] are low-confidence readings and should be checked against the original panel before publication.
- Victory block: neither victory condition is legible. The wording is not transcribed.
- Special Rules bodies: the bodies of "Unfavourable Place", "Final Rampage", "Wall of Corpses" and "Bonus effects" are blurred. Only the headings, the Wall of Corpses first sentence (marked [?]) and fragments of the rest are visible. The unreadable text is marked [illegible]. The bullet-list text under Bonus effects is almost entirely illegible.
- Scenario map unit positions: the scenario panel's map is too small and blurred to read the placement of units or the labels printed on it.
- Setup sheet markers and coloured regions: the red numbered markers on the setup maps and the coloured edge regions (in the player colours) are not explained by any printed text on the sheet. They are described above as shown, without interpretation.
- Sheet languages: the sheets are bilingual FR/EN. Only the English text is transcribed. The French text is not transcribed.
- Credits and copyright block: not transcribed, per the house rules.
