Components
- 91 Mosquito cards
- 1 Repellent card
Each Mosquito card has a number and a symbol in its corners. The card colours (green, pink, blue and orange) determine what happens when the card is revealed (see Card Types).
Setup
- Set the Repellent card aside and shuffle the Mosquito cards.
- Take 5 random cards from the deck and return them to the box without looking at them.
- Place one card from the deck face up in the centre of the table. Deal all remaining cards evenly among the players. If any cards are left over, return them to the box.
- Each player takes their deck and keeps it face down. Players may not look at their cards during the game until they are revealed.
How to Play
The game begins with the last person who was bitten by a mosquito. That player reveals the top card of their deck by flipping it face up towards the others, so that it is visible to everyone. Depending on the type/colour of the card, an action may be triggered (see Card Types).
Going clockwise, each player reveals a card from their deck and resolves the corresponding action, until all cards have been played and the game ends.
Card Types
Green
These are common mosquitoes. They have no effect, and they accumulate in the pile where they are revealed until someone takes the pile.
Pink
When a pink card appears, EVERYONE must try to touch the card with the highest number with their hand. It may be the top card of any participant's pile, or even the pile in the centre. The first player to touch that card takes the whole pile and places it face down beside them, forming their point pile.
When this action is performed, the card in the centre may disappear. If this happens, take one of the cards that were set aside during setup from the box and place it face up in the centre of the table. This way, there will always be a card in the centre.
Blue
When a blue card appears, the player who REVEALED the card may try to steal a rival's pile. To do so, they must touch the pile of any participant before that participant covers it. If they succeed, they take that pile. If the others cover their cards first, nothing is taken. The card in the centre cannot be stolen by this action.
Orange
When an orange card appears, EVERYONE must touch the card in the centre of the table. The player who arrives last receives two penalties:
- If they have cards in their point pile, they lose one card and place it on top of the centre pile.
- In addition, they take the Repellent card. Whoever has this card at the end of the game cannot win, even if they have the most points.
Important
Touching a card means covering it with the palm of your hand. If several participants cover a card at the same time, whoever placed their hand underneath (even if only with one finger) wins. If nobody has placed their hand under another person's hand, whoever covered the greater surface area of the card wins. If doubt remains, nobody takes the card and the mosquito escapes.
Example
- Fabián reveals an orange card. Everyone covers the centre card. Ana arrives last and receives the Repellent card, but since she has no points yet, she discards nothing.
- Álvaro reveals a common (green) mosquito.
- Ana reveals a pink card. Javi is the fastest to cover the 73, which is the highest card on the table, so he takes the whole pile.
- Javi reveals a common (green) mosquito.
End of the Game
When all cards have been played, whoever holds the Repellent card is out of the game. Then the cards in the point piles of the remaining players are counted, and whoever has the most cards wins. In case of a tie, whoever has the card with the highest number wins.
