Components

  • 1 baking bowl (= the bottom of the game box)
  • 4 cooking spoons
  • 4 small wooden bowls
  • 30 wooden sugar balls in six colours
  • 20 cake cards
  • 4 non-slip pads

Idea of the Game

The cake cards show which sugar balls are needed to decorate a cake. The players mix the balls in the baking bowl and at the same time try to fish out the required balls as quickly as possible with their cooking spoons. Only the most skilful player is rewarded with the cake card.

Setup

The best place for this game is a table without a tablecloth. The bottom of the game box becomes the baking bowl. So that the box does not slide on the table, you can place the 4 non-slip pads under the corners of the box, attaching them to the base.

Put all 30 sugar balls into the baking bowl. Each player takes a small wooden bowl. Shuffle the cake cards and place them in a pile on the table.

Rules of Play

The player who first names the three main ingredients of a cake takes the first cake card.

The player who drew the card lays it on the table so that all players can see the picture. The card shows how many balls, and of which colours, you need to decorate the cake.

Take a cooking spoon in one hand. The player who revealed the card commands: "To the monster's cake! Ready! Set! GO!" On the command, all players simultaneously try to get the required sugar balls out of the bowl as quickly as possible using the cooking spoon, so that each ball ends up in your wooden bowl. You may use only one hand!

If a player takes a wrong ball by mistake, he must return to the common bowl any ball that he has already placed in his wooden bowl.

The player who first collects all the required balls in his wooden bowl, according to the card, says loudly: "Monsters stop!" At that moment all players must put down their cooking spoons. As a reward, the player who collected the correct balls takes the cake card and places it face down next to himself. If someone shouts "Monsters stop!" at the wrong time, the other players each receive a card from the pile.

All 30 sugar balls are put back into the common baking bowl.

The last player who won a cake card draws a new one from the deck for the next round. All players study the card, get their cooking spoons ready, and the player commands: "To the monster's cake! Ready! Set! GO!"

End of the Game

The first player to collect five cake cards becomes the Monster Baker and thereby wins the game.
