How to Become the Winner

It's very simple: be the first to accumulate M1 million in your bank!

This leaflet contains the general rules of the game; for more detailed information see the reverse side of the leaflet. If you are playing for the first time, study the cards before you start playing. This will help you get into the game faster.

Contents

110 cards: 35 Property cards, 40 Action cards, 31 Money cards and 4 Quick Reference cards.

Setup

  1. Take the 4 "Quick Reference" cards out of the deck and give one to each player. Shuffle the remaining cards and deal 5 cards to each player (hold the cards face down). Do not show your cards to other players.
  2. Place the remaining cards in the centre of the play area face down. This is the draw deck, from which players draw cards during the game.

How to Play

All players use two shared decks of cards: the draw deck and the play deck.

  • Draw deck: you draw cards from this deck during the game.
  • Play deck: here you can play Action cards or discard excess cards.

If there are no cards left in the draw deck, shuffle the play deck and use it as the new draw deck.

During the game you lay out your cards in front of you as follows:

  • Your "Bank": put Money cards here (but NOT Property cards) to form your bank of cash.
  • Your "Property" ("Real Estate") cards: needed to collect rent, which you charge other players.
  • Cards in your hand: cards in your hand cannot be involved in the game until you lay them out on the table during your turn!

If It Is Your Turn

  1. Draw 2 cards from the draw deck.
  2. Play NO MORE THAN 3 cards from those in your hand, laying them on the table in front of you. (If you wish, you may play no cards at all.) Play one card at a time: Money cards, Action cards and Property cards, in any order.
  3. Before your turn passes to the next player, check how many cards you have in your hand:
    • More than 7? Place the excess cards in the play deck.
    • 0? At the start of your next turn draw 5 cards, not 2.
    • 1-7 cards: that is just right.
  4. Your turn is over. The next player to the left takes their turn.

Keep playing in this way until one of the players accumulates M1 million in their bank!

Basic Rules

  • Play your cards by laying them on the table in front of you. Place Money cards in the "Bank" pile and Property cards next to your "Bank".
  • Play Action cards from those you have in hand by placing them on top of the play deck.
  • As soon as your card is played (that is, placed in the "Bank", in "Property" or in the play deck), it can NO LONGER return to the hand of any player.
  • If you must pay another player, or a player "steals" your card, the card is placed in their "Bank" or "Property". The card does not go into the player's hand.
  • NEVER give a player cards from those in your hand. Remember: you have not played them yet, and so they are not involved in the game. ALWAYS use only the cards that are on the table in front of you.
  • No change is given in this game! If you must pay M50k and you have in the bank only a card of M100k denomination, you are out of luck! You lose M50k!

To win, accumulate M1 million in your bank!

Money Cards

Remember: your "Bank" pile is your chance to WIN the game!

  • Play Money cards by laying them in front of you in your "Bank" pile.
  • Why do I need to play Money cards? To win the game, accumulate M1 million in your bank — the first to do so wins!
  • Keep a certain number of Money cards in your "Bank" so that, if necessary, you can pay rent or pay a player who plays an Action card such as "Birthday" or "Tax Collector" against you (see Action cards).
  • If you have money in your bank, use it to pay other players. You may pay with Property cards only if your "Bank" has run out of Money cards.

Property Cards

Collect sets of Property cards in order to charge other players higher rent.

Property cards CANNOT be put in the "Bank" instead of money!

  • A Property card shows what rent you may charge other players and how many cards of this colour must be collected to make a full set (two or three).
  • The more cards of one colour you have, the higher the rent you can charge when you play a "Rent" card of this colour.
  • If you must pay money but your "Bank" has no Money cards left, use instead of money Property cards from your "Property" pile. You cannot use cards that are in your hand. The monetary value of a property is shown in the top left corner of the card.

Special Property Cards

There are two types of Special Property cards: two-colour (standard) and multicolour.

  • Two-colour Special Property cards: may be used to claim a property of either of the two colours indicated on the card.
  • Multicolour Special Property cards: may be used to claim a property of any colour, except gold.
  • Use Special Property cards like other Property cards of the corresponding colour (i.e. these cards count when rent is charged and may be stolen!).
  • If desired, you may exchange a Special Property card for an ordinary Property card of the corresponding colour.
  • You may move these cards from one set to another during your turn. This card may be played IN ADDITION to the three cards you are allowed to play per turn (when there are already 3 cards on the table).
  • If you have collected a full set of Property cards and no longer need to use a Special Property card, leave it in your "Property" pile — it may still come in handy!

Action Cards

  • To play an Action card, lay one of the cards you have in hand face up on top of the play deck. Each card has instructions on it.

Each Action card says what must be done. Here is a description of the most important Action cards.

  • Double Overtake (Двойной обгон) — Play this card as the third card of your turn, and you will get the chance to make a repeat deal!
  • Sly Deal (Нечестная сделка) — Take a property from another player and add it to your "Property". You may thus "steal" a Special Property card. You cannot take a card from a full set of property.
  • Forced Deal (Вынужденная сделка) — Swap a Property card of another player for one of your own "Property" cards. You may swap a Special Property card. But you cannot swap cards from a full set.
  • Deal Breaker (Сорвите сделку) — Take a full set of property from any other player and add it to your "Property". A tough way to do business!
  • Just Say "No"! (Просто скажите «Нет»!) — Play this card at any moment of the game to cancel an Action card that another player plays against you. But if that player also has a "Just Say No" card, they may use it and cancel your action... This is the only Action card that you can keep and not play immediately.
