1 Gameboard 6 Avengers Tokens 6 Avengers Superpower Cards 72 Location Markers (12 for each Super Hero) 16 S.H.I.E.L.D. Cards 24 Villains Cards 1 Money Pack 2 Dice 1 Hero Die

Aim of the Game

Roll the dice to save locations from villains and gain power. The Super Hero with the most power wins!

Read This Page First: What's Different in the MONOPOLY Avengers Game?

  • The Avengers use power instead of money! Collect power by passing GO and from some S.H.I.E.L.D. cards. Use your power to save locations from villains!
  • S.H.I.E.L.D. and Villains cards are the Chance and Community Chest cards. Land on a space, take a card, do what it says, and put it back in its pile.
  • Villains control 2 board locations each! Avengers, use your power to save locations from villains! This is the same as buying property in the classic game of MONOPOLY.
  • Collect power-ups from other Avengers when they land on spaces you've saved! Power-ups are like rent in the classic game of MONOPOLY.

No-one goes bankrupt! The game ends when all spaces have been saved from the villains. The Hero with the most power at the end (including 100 Power for each location saved) wins!

Diagram labels: Villain (the villain picture on a space), Power cost (the number in the top-left of a space), Location marker (a marker shows that the space has been saved), Power-up value (the number in the bottom-right of a space).

The Board Spaces

GO space

When you land on or pass GO, pick up 200 Power and reactivate your superpower by flipping over your superpower card (if you've used it).

Villain-controlled spaces (no marker)

Can you see the picture of the villain on the space? If so, you need to save the space from the clutches of the villain! To do so:

  • pay the power cost shown in the top-left on the space to the bank and
  • cover the picture of the villain with one of your markers to show that you saved it!

IMPORTANT: Saving spaces from villains is not optional – if you have the power, you must do it!

Hero-saved spaces (with marker)

If there's a coloured marker covering the picture of the villain, the space has already been saved!

Give the Super Hero who saved the space a power-up for being on their location if they shout "Power up!" before the next player rolls the dice! The power-up value is shown in the bottom right corner.

Don't have enough power? Give whatever you've got. The bank does not make up the rest.

Colour set = total domination!

It pays to save a colour set. If you have both locations in the colour set, the power-up value you collect is doubled when anyone lands on either one!

Villains

Villains cards could make you lose locations or power, or both! Take the top Villains card from the deck and do what it says immediately. Return used cards to the bottom of the deck.

Hero die

You'll use the Hero die most often for the Villains deck. Each coloured icon matches a Hero. When you roll an Avengers' icon, that Hero is affected by the Villains card! Rolled the same Hero more than once? They're only affected by the action on the card once.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D. cards help you hunt down villains and give you power boosts! Take the top card from the deck and do what it says. Return used cards to the bottom of the deck.

Just Visiting

If you land here, do nothing. Just hang out in the Just Visiting section.

Free Parking

Nothing bad – or good – happens here. Just relax.

Go to Jail

Go directly to Jail. Do not pass GO. Your turn is over.

While you're in Jail, you do not collect any power-ups, so you'll want to get out of there as soon as possible!

How do I get out of Jail? Pay 50 Power at the start of your next turn to break out! Then roll and move as normal.

What If I Run Out of Power?

If you haven't got enough power to save a space from a villain, you'll need backup. Roll the Hero die once. The Hero you roll has to help out!

Your back-up Hero will not move, but will use their power to save the space and put on one of their markers. You keep hold of what power you have.

If your back-up Hero also doesn't have the power to overcome the villain, roll again until someone can.

If you don't have enough power to give another Super Hero their power-up, give what you can. The Bank of Power does not make up any shortfall and you don't pay it back later. Someone will land on one of your locations soon, or you'll pass GO and get some power back!

WIN!

When the last location has been saved and all the villains are defeated, the game is over!

Count up your power and add 100 for each marker you have on the board!

The Super Hero with the most power is the winner!

Superpower Cards

Reactivate your superpower every time you pass GO!

  • Marvel's Black Widow – Widow's Sting: Advance up to 6 extra spaces during your turn.
  • Thor – Bring the Thunder: Don't like what you or another Hero rolled? Demand a re-roll! Can be used with normal dice and Hero die.
  • Marvel's Hawkeye – Locked On Target: When you land on a Villains space, take 2 cards and choose which one you want to play.
  • Captain America – Vibranium Shield: Say no to any action played against you by a card or another Hero.
  • Iron Man – Armor Up! Use any other Hero's superpower, as long as it's active.
  • Hulk – Hulk Smash! Swap any 2 Heroes at the start of your turn. (They do not pass GO or do any additional actions.)

Setup

  1. Shuffle the Villains cards and place them face down on the gameboard. The first time you play, discard the 4 blank cards from the deck.
  2. Shuffle the S.H.I.E.L.D. cards and place them face down on the gameboard.
  3. Give each player:
    • 1 Avengers token. Choose your Super Hero and place it on GO.
    • The matching Avengers superpower card. Read out your superpower. Use it when you need it!
    • 12 location markers that match your token.
    • 1,500 in power (2x500, 3x100, 2x50, 4x20, 2x10).
  4. Choose someone to be Power Broker. You're now in charge of the Bank of Power!
  5. Put all 3 dice next to the board. (Hero die shown with a pointer to the board.)

Play!

How to win

Use your power to save locations in the Marvel Universe as you travel around the gameboard. You win if you have the most power when all villains are defeated!

How to play

The player who is most like Hulk starts! Play then continues clockwise.

On your turn

  1. Roll the 2 numbered dice.
  2. Move your token clockwise that number of spaces around the board. If you land on or pass GO, pick up 200 Power! Reactivate your Avengers superpower (flip the card) if you used it. See number 5 below for details.
  3. Where did you land? Follow the instructions for BOARD SPACES (see above).
  4. Rolled a double? Play and roll again. If you roll 3 doubles in a row, go directly to Jail.
  5. Want to use your superpower? Choose a good time to use your superpower. Once you've used it, flip the card over. Your superpower is reactivated every time you pass GO. Flip the card to reactivate.
  6. That's it! Your turn's over. The player to your left goes next.

Start playing!

That's all you need to know, so get going. Turn over to look up the spaces when you land on them!
