Game Objective
Collect the number of copper pieces needed to win, or the most copper pieces before the deck runs out. The number of copper pieces needed to win depends on the number of players:
- 2 players: 20 pieces of copper
- 3 players: 15 pieces of copper
- 4 players: 12 pieces of copper
- 5 players: 10 pieces of copper
If cards must be added to the asteroid field (the table) and no cards remain in the asteroid deck, the game ends and the player with the most copper pieces at that moment wins. In case of a tie, the player with the larger crew wins. If the tie persists, the players share the victory.
Components
- 5 Player tokens (fichas de jugadores)
- 1 Instruction manual (manual de instrucciones)
- 5 Starter Kit cards (cartas de kit inicial)
- 33 Crew cards (cartas de tripulantes)
- 5 Electric Eel cards (cartas de anguila eléctrica)
- 5 Abandoned Base cards (cartas de base abandonada)
Card Types
1 Starter Kit (Kit Inicial)
These are the basic tools that let you advance on your mission. They cannot be stolen.
2 Crew (Tripulantes)
These are cards that, when played on your turn, allow you to perform different actions. Each card explains its abilities.
3 Electric Eel (Anguila Eléctrica)
These are special cards that allow you to cancel the effects of a Crew card played by another player. When you do, the cancelled player must place the Electric Eel face up in the Asteroid Field, following the rules for placing asteroids (see "Attract Asteroids"). Once it is in the field, the first player who shoots it (see "Shots") may add it to the top of their discard pile. Because it is not a Crew card, an Electric Eel cannot cancel another Electric Eel.
4 Abandoned Base (Base Abandonada)
These are cards that represent the remains of past crews, who were lost while trying to complete their mission. To acquire an Abandoned Base, you must Excavate it (see "Excavate"), and then place it beside your personal discard pile until the end of the game. There are 2 types of Abandoned Bases:
- A: Copper Mine (Mina de Cobre): Provides 3 pieces of copper.
- B: Furious Chungungo (Chungungo Furioso): Goes directly to the player with the fewest pieces of copper (in case of a tie, the player who performed "Excavate" decides). Provides 1 piece of copper, and allows you to apply "Struck" (Golpeado) to up to 2 players of your choice.
The Starter Kit cards are dealt at the start of the game, while the Asteroid Deck is made up of Crew, Electric Eel and Abandoned Base cards.
Game Setup
- Separate the Electric Eel, Abandoned Base and Starter Kit cards from the deck, leaving only the Crew cards.
- Every player chooses a chungungo of a colour and receives a Starter Kit card.
- The first player is whoever has come closest to outer space.
- The first player places the top card of the deck face down, without looking at it, anywhere on the table. They then place a second asteroid card adjacent to the previous one, also without looking at it.
- Clockwise, each of the other players places 2 asteroid cards face down, without looking at them. These cards must be placed so that each one is adjacent to a card already on the table.
- Build the Asteroid Deck with all remaining asteroid cards and the Abandoned Base cards, add one Electric Eel card per player, and then shuffle. The deck must remain on the table, within reach of all players.
- Clockwise, the players place their tokens on an asteroid card on the table. There may not be two tokens on the same asteroid.
Gameplay
Turn Structure
On their turn, each player may perform one of the following actions, and then ends their turn:
- Play a Crew card: Choose a card from your hand, place it face up on your personal discard pile, and resolve its effect.
- Regroup (Reagrupar): Take all the cards from your personal discard pile into your hand.
If you start your turn with no cards in hand, regroup first and then play a Crew card.
Types of Actions
The game contains a variety of actions that you can perform. Most are explained on the cards; however, there are 4 main actions, which will be performed constantly throughout the game.
- Excavate (Excavar): Take an asteroid or Abandoned Base card adjacent to your token and place it in your hand.
- Attract Asteroid (Atraer Asteroide): Take the top 2 cards of the deck, without looking at them, and place them face down on the table, adjacent to other asteroid or Abandoned Base cards, forming a grid.
- Quantum Leap (Salto Cuántico): Take your token and place it on another available face-down card. A card is available if it has no token on top of it.
- Shots (Disparos): Shot cards have directions printed on them. Place the shot card on the card your chungungo is on, following its direction (or rotate it 180°), and it projects lines in the directions of the shots. These lines may affect several Electric Eel cards, and several players, with a single shot. All players impacted by those lines are considered "Struck" (Golpeados) by you.
Struck (Golpeado): Steal a random card from the affected player's hand. If the affected player has no cards in hand, the shot has no effect. Remember, Starter Kit cards cannot be stolen.
Example: 3-Player Game
The manual includes a diagram of a 3-player game. It labels the play area as follows:
- Deck (Mazo): Face-down draw pile, shown at the top of the diagram.
- Asteroid Field (Campo de Asteroides): The cards laid out in the centre, in a grid.
- Abandoned Bases (Bases Abandonadas): Shown in several areas of the diagram, beside the discard piles.
- Discard (Descarte): Shown in several areas of the diagram, one per player and in a shared row at the bottom.
