Setup

Split into 2 teams of 2 players each. Players on the same team sit across from each other, so that each player has an opponent on their left and on their right.

At the start of the game each team has 3 health. This health is shared by the members of the team.

If you have two copies of the base game, you may shuffle all the cards into one deck. Each player starts the game with:

  • 5 cards in hand;
  • 5 cards in the deck;
  • 2 Mindbugs*;
  • an empty personal discard pile.

* We recommend dealing each player 2 Mindbugs. If you have only one copy of the base game, deal each player 1 Mindbug.

Goal

You win the game immediately when the health of the opposing team drops to zero.

Player Elimination

If a player cannot take a turn action (play a card or attack with a creature), that player is eliminated. If they still have creatures in play or cards in hand (a very rare situation), those are removed from the game. The eliminated player's turns are skipped until the end of the game, but their teammate continues to play. If both members of a team are eliminated, their team loses.

Turn Structure

As in a 1-vs-1 game, on your turn each player must take one turn action: play a card or attack with a creature. Turns pass clockwise. The game follows the normal rules with the following changes:

Playing a card: when you play a card, all other players (including your teammate) may use a Mindbug. The player to your left goes first. If they decline, the right to act passes to the player across from you (your teammate). If they too decline, the player to your right may use a Mindbug. If someone has decided to use a Mindbug, the other players can no longer do so, and you must take one more turn action. If no player used a Mindbug, you place the played card in your play area, and your turn ends.

Attacking with a creature: when you attack, the player to your left decides whether to block the attack. If they decide not to, the decision passes to the player to your right. If they also decide not to block, the opposing team loses 1 health. If the team loses all its health, it loses the game.

Game Terminology

Allied creatures are creatures only in your play area, not in the play area of your teammate.

An enemy creature is any creature controlled by one of your opponents.

If a card effect uses the term "opponent":

  • For play, attack and destroy effects, you choose which member of the opposing team is affected.
  • Constant (ongoing) effects affect both players of the opposing team.

Example: the effect of the creature Вышибивень (Vyshibiven) reads "Attack: An opponent discards a card." Each time you attack with Вышибивень, you choose one of your opponents, who discards a card.

Example: the effect of the creature Сломиног (Slominog) reads "Opponents cannot block with creatures with power 4 or less." This effect applies to both opponents.

Clarifications on Certain Cards

Одинокий йети (Lone Yeti): has +5 power and counts as FRENZY while it remains your only allied creature. It does not matter whether your teammate has creatures.

Кенгузавр рекс (Kenguzavr Rex): destroys creatures with power 4 or less of both opponents.

Гидритка (Gidritka): when its attack effect activates, you choose an opponent to compare creature counts with. If you have fewer creatures than that opponent, destroy any one creature in play (for example, it may be a creature of the other opponent).

Мозгит / Мамуля гарпия (Mozgit / Mamulya Garpiya): through the effects of these creatures you can gain control of a creature belonging to your teammate.

Card names in brackets are transliterations from the Russian document; the English printed names of these New Servants cards were not reached and should be checked against the cards.
