Components

  • 2 pads of Metro Plan sheets (double-sided): each sheet has a tile distribution table, your line(s), and a score table.
  • 42 tiles: 1x tiles 1 to 10, 2x tiles 11 to 19, 1x tiles 20 to 30 (as printed in the component illustration), plus 3 special tiles.
  • 1 bag.

Setup

  1. Everyone takes a pencil or a pen.
  2. Decide which city you will play and give everyone a sheet of that city's metro map. Everyone must play on the same side.
    • For a first game, we recommend Plan A (ESSEN). The special rules of the other plans are detailed at the end of this booklet.
  3. Everyone writes their name on their sheet.
  4. All 42 tiles are placed in the bag.
  5. Decide who will draw the tiles. It can be one person, or several people in turn.

How to Play

1. Draw a tile from the bag

Take a numbered tile from the bag and announce the value written on it aloud. Then place the tile on the table, in view of everyone.

Whether it is a numbered tile or a special tile, the tile drawn will not be used again during this game. So be careful not to put it back in the bag!

Special tiles (3 in total):

  • Star tile - This is a joker. Draw a star in any empty space on your line. When scores are calculated, this star replaces any value.
  • Remove 2 tiles - Draw 2 tiles from the bag, reveal them and remove them from the game. These tiles will not be used during this game.
  • Draw 2 tiles, keep 1 - Draw 2 tiles from the bag and reveal them. Choose one of the two and note its value in an empty space on your line. (Everyone can choose independently of the choices of others.)

2. Write the number on the sheet

Write the value shown on the drawn tile in any empty space on your metro line. Once everyone has finished this step, go back to "1 - Draw a tile from the bag". Continue alternating these steps until all the spaces on the metro line are filled.

  • You must write the value drawn (or a star, if it is a Star tile).
  • A written number can no longer be erased or moved.
  • You must finish writing before the next tile is drawn from the bag.

End of the Game and Scoring

The game ends when everyone has filled in all the spaces of their plan. Then divide your line into sections of increasing values (which we will call runs), starting with the first space of the line. Count the number of spaces in each run and calculate your score.

  • Starting with the first space of the line, draw a stroke whenever the increasing order is broken. Start a new series from the stroke you drew and begin again in the same way. Each section of increasing values separated by a stroke is a run.
  • Two identical values side by side are considered to respect the increasing order.
  • After counting the number of spaces making up each run, use the score table to determine your points.
Spaces in the run1234567891011121314151617181920
Points0+3+8+15+25+35+50+65+80

The sum of the scores of each run is your final score.

The person with the highest final score wins the game. In case of a tie, enjoy the happiness of a shared victory!

Rules of the Different Plans

Metro Bingo offers you 4 different plans. Plan A offers the basic Metro Bingo experience. Plans B, C and D, on the other hand, offer you variety through unique configurations. The basic principle remains the same, but plans B, C and D add the following specific rules:

Plan B - Seoul

The game consists of 2 rounds.

Round 1:

  • You only write values in the spaces of the line corresponding to "Round 1".
  • Once all the "Round 1" spaces are filled (including the shared spaces), the first round ends. Calculate the mid-game scores.
  • Calculate the points of the Round 1 line (shared spaces included) and write them in the box provided.
  • The tiles used in round 1 will not be used in round 2. Be careful not to put them back in the bag!

Round 2:

  • You only write values in the spaces of the line corresponding to "Round 2".
  • Once all the "Round 2" spaces are filled (shared spaces included), the second round ends. Calculate the scores.

Shared spaces (connecting stations): Shared spaces count in the score for both the first and the second round. So choose carefully the numbers to write in these spaces during the first round: they will influence both your scores. The game is won by the person whose total score over the two rounds is the highest.

Plan C - Tokyo

Before starting to play, place a star in two spaces of your choice. When scores are calculated, these spaces are treated like those marked with a star thanks to a special tile, that is, like jokers.

There is no imposed starting space on plan C. At the end of the game, choose any space as the starting point and determine your runs from there. Be careful to respect the direction of the arrows on the line.

All other rules are the basic ones.

Plan D - Paris

Plan D represents 3 distinct lines.

When you draw a tile, write the value where you want, on the line of your choice. You can switch from one line to another without waiting to have completed it.

When you have filled all the spaces of the plan, the game is over. Calculate the score of each line: the person with the highest cumulative score wins.
