Goal
Be the first team to reach the trophy space by guessing the endings of Internet search suggestions.
Setup
Place the blue and red pawns on the GO spaces, then appoint a referee and form two teams.
Playing a Round
The referee reads the beginning of a search from a card AND turns over the hourglass.
For 40 seconds, in no imposed order, both teams make as many suggestions as possible out loud to find the search engine suggestions.
As soon as the referee hears a valid suggestion (close enough to a suggestion on the card), the referee places a token in front of the player concerned.
Example card: "Comment faire semblant de..." ("How to pretend to..."). Its suggestions are: ...dormir (sleep), ...travailler (work), ...pleurer (cry), ...chercher un emploi (look for a job), ...fumer (smoke), ...rire (laugh). The suggestion "...chercher un emploi" is marked with an author's smiley icon (see Bonus).
End of a Round
At the end of the round, each team advances its pawn one space for each token it won.
The referee collects the tokens and starts a new round.
The first team to reach the trophy space wins!
Changing Referee
Change referee and the game starts again.
Bonus: Author Smileys
Tokens won thanks to suggestions marked with a smiley count double! The team may then advance its pawn 2 spaces instead of 1 for each such token.
The 8 author smileys, roughly meaning:
- Ok… wow!
- Ha ha!
- It was obvious!
- So cute
- Puzzled…
- Sniff, sniff…
- We clicked…
- No… really?
F.A.Q.
I'm on the Internet and the results are different. Why?
Romaric: For two reasons! First, the suggestions were collected over a period of more than a year, and they change depending on users' search trends, each user's settings, and spelling. Second, we often made choices to eliminate similarities and make the game more fun.
