Game Setup

  1. Shuffle all 54 cards and deal them to players according to the number of players.
  2. Place the remaining cards face down in the center of the table. This is called the draw pile.
  3. Flip over the top card of the draw pile and place it next to the pile face-up. This is called the discard pile.
  4. The youngest player becomes the starting player.

Play!

  1. Turns proceed clockwise from the starting player.

  2. On your turn, you may play as many cards as the number shown on the top card of the discard pile. You may also play fewer cards.

  3. Play your cards one at a time face-up so other players can see. You may only play cards that meet one of the following conditions:

[Condition 1] The number matches the top card of the discard pile.

[Condition 2] The color matches the top card of the discard pile.

If you play a card, you can continue to play more cards as long as each one matches the updated number or color.

  4. If you cannot play any cards due to not meeting the conditions, or if you intentionally choose not to play any cards, you must draw a number of cards from the discard pile equal to the number on the top card of the discard pile, add them to your hand, and end your turn.

Play – Example for Condition 1

It's Dodam's turn. The top card of the discard pile is a '2', so Dodam can play up to 2 cards. Dodam plays two cards with the number 2.

Play – Example for Condition 2

It's Ella's turn. The top card on the discard pile is a red fox card with number 2. Ella plays a fox card with number 3 and a Siamese card with number 3.

Note. If the number changes after playing cards, that does not allow you to play additional cards. Once cards have been played according to the rules, your turn ends.

Rainbow (X) Card

  1. You may play a rainbow card at any time. It is always treated as matching both number and color.
  2. When collecting the 10 types of cat cards, a rainbow card counts as one of the missing types. If you have more than one rainbow card, each counts as a different missing type.
  3. If the rainbow card is on top of the discard pile at the start of a turn, the player may either play 1 to 4 cards or draw 1 to 4 cards, as they wish.

Play – Rainbow Card Example

It's Jay's turn. Jay plays a rainbow card along with green and blue number 2 cards.

End of Round

The round ends immediately when any of the following conditions are met:

  • Condition 1. A player plays all the cards in their hand.
  • Condition 2. The draw pile is empty.
  • Condition 3. If someone collects 10 different types of cat cards in their hand, they shout "Ten!" and the round ends immediately.

At the end of the round, players receive penalty points equal to the total of the numbers on the cards left in their hands. Rainbow cards are worth 0 points. However, if the round ended because a player collected 10 different cat cards, all other players receive penalty points equal to the number of cards in that player's hand. The player who completed the collection receives no penalty.

The next round's starting player is the one with the most penalty points. If there is a tie, the previous round's starting player goes again.

Game End

The game ends when any player reaches 30 or more penalty points. The player with the fewest penalty points wins. If multiple players tie, they all win.
