- 1 game board (Spielplan)
- 15 Mitmach cards (Mitmach-Kärtchen)
- 1 wooden die (Holzwürfel)
- 1 plush mouse (Plüschmäuschen)
- 5 individual parts for the fabric tent (Einzelteile für das Stoff-Zelt)
Before the Very First Game
Punch out the game board and the 15 Mitmach cards from the punch sheet. Please dispose of the plastic bag for the plush parts immediately; it must not get into children's hands!
Educational Notes
This very first game was developed especially for children aged 2½ and up. Varied tasks keep the game lively, which suits children's needs. Various skills are developed through play: imitating animal sounds supports language development, gymnastic exercises train motor skills, and joint activities such as singing, dancing and hugging promote musical and social skills.
The tasks pursue a shared, concrete goal: building a fabric tent at the end. In this way children are gently led to real cooperative play and to following generally valid "rules of play".
Goal of the Game
The goal is for all players together to collect the five parts for the tent and build the tent.
Game Setup
Sort the cards by background colour: yellow, blue and red. Place the three stacks face down, each next to the Mitmach field of the matching colour, as shown in the picture on the next page. Keep the parts for the tent within easy reach.
Place the plush figure to start on a purple rest field with a sleeping mouse. The youngest player begins.
Game Flow
Players take turns rolling the die and move Pia clockwise to the next field with the colour that was rolled.
If Pia is moved onto one of the purple rest fields, she lies down to "sleep" and the player thereby skips a round of rolling.
If Pia is moved onto a large Mitmach field, the top card of the corresponding stack may be drawn. Each card sets a specific task. Once the task has been completed, the card is put back under the correct stack, and as a reward there is a new part for the tent!
The actions differ by colour: on the yellow field the cards set a gymnastic exercise, while on the blue field various animal sounds are to be imitated. And on the red field there are funny tasks for all players together!
An overview of all 15 cards is on the next page.
Mitmach Card Overview
Gymnastic exercises (yellow)
- Jump up and down (In die Höhe hüpfen)
- Roll on the floor (Sich auf dem Boden rollen)
- Walk on all fours (Auf allen vieren laufen)
- Crawl under the legs (Unter den Beinen durchkrabbeln)
- Touch the big toe to the nose (Den großen Zeh zur Nase führen)
Imitate animal sounds (blue)
- Dog (Hund)
- Cow (Kuh)
- Pig (Schwein)
- Frog (Frosch)
- Cat (Katze)
Tasks for several players (red)
- Sing a song (Ein Lied singen)
- Dance in a circle (Im Kreis tanzen)
- Hug (Sich umarmen)
- Make funny faces (Lustige Gesichter machen)
- Do a finger play (Ein Fingerspiel machen)
Note on the red cards: The song and the finger play may be chosen freely. A suitable finger play is, for example, the rhyme "Das ist der Daumen, der schüttelt die Pflaumen, der liest sie auf, der trägt sie nach Haus, und der kleine Wicht isst sie alle auf!" (in English: "This is the thumb, who shakes the plums, who picks them up, who carries them home, and the little rascal eats them all up!"). Touch the child's fingers one after another and move them.
Ending the Game
Once all five parts for the tent have been collected, the big moment comes: now the tent is set up! The assembly instructions on the last page show the easiest way. At the end, say "Hello little mouse – your tent is finished!" and Pia is put into it.
We wish you and your child lots of fun!
Assembly of the Fabric Tent
- Attach the tent walls to the base plate as shown.
- Turn the base plate over and fold up the tent walls.
- Attach the tips of the tent walls to the hook-and-loop loop (Klettschlaufe) of the light-blue tent wall. Start with the wall opposite the light-blue one.
Care Instructions
The tent and the plush mouse are machine washable at 30°. We recommend the delicate cycle and the use of a laundry bag.
