The "N" Envelope
The thematic set of cards in the "N" envelope is a mini expansion for the Meadow: Downstream board game. You can freely add the mini expansion to the game by shuffling any number of the cards into the river deck. Each card is marked at the bottom with a letter corresponding to the envelope. The cards in this pack are marked with the letter N.
N01 Spring
After playing this card, look at the top 3 cards of the river deck in the holder on the river board. Add 1 of these cards to your hand and put the remaining 2 cards on the bottom of the deck in any order. Then move your kayaker marker 1 space on the river board.
N02 Jetty
After playing this card, choose a deck in a holder on the main or river board (water-drop symbol) and draw the top card. Then move your kayaker marker 1 space on the river board.
N03 Backhanded hitch
After playing this card, you may choose and perform one additional action from among the starting two options of the river board.
Depending on the board, the actions are as following:
Lazy river (the two starting options shown as icons on the pack sheet):
- Take the top card of the river deck or E deck.
- Take 1 road token or discard any card from your hand (put it on the bottom of the corresponding deck) and take the top 2 cards from any 1 deck on the main or river deck.
Wild rapids (the two starting options shown as icons on the pack sheet):
- Take the top card of the S or W deck.
- Look at the top 2 cards of the N deck. Add 1 of them to your hand and put the other on the bottom of the deck.
Editor's note: the pack sheet prints the lazy river and wild rapids options only as icons. The wording above is the matching starting-option text from the Meadow: Downstream rulebook, Lazy River and Wild Rapids sections ("Types of Extra Actions"), which these icons depict. The water-drop symbol is printed on the sheet without a word. In N01 it follows "river deck" and is transcribed as those words; in N02 it marks the deck to be drawn from and is transcribed in place as "water-drop symbol".
