Mazescape: Labýrinthos Rulebook

Table of Contents
Introduction
The box contains 7 different Mazescapes. Each one is independent of the others, but we recommend starting with No. 1, then exploring them in order, to enjoy the fullest possible experience.
Your journey into each Mazescape always begins at the Compass Rose, and your goal is to find your way to the impossible Triangle. Once you reach that spot, you can move on to the next Mazescape.
In addition, each Mazescape offers its own secondary objectives, such as finding, activating, or picking up objects. The secondary objectives for each Mazescape are detailed on its back.
Setup
You must play on a table or a flat surface.
Unfold the Mazescape so that the first and last pages stay in permanent contact with the table.
Use the cursor supplied in the box (or simply your finger). This cursor must NEVER leave the table.
All Mazescapes begin by placing the cursor on the Compass Rose.
You can fold and unfold the Mazescape along its pre-set creases to open and close sections. The section occupied by the cursor must not be folded or unfolded.
Your goal is to reach the exit. In every Mazescape, the exit is represented by the impossible Triangle.
At the last page of this booklet is a table letting you note the Mazescapes you have completed, as well as the time spent solving them. Blank tables can be downloaded from the Mazescape page of www.iello.com.
How to Move Through the Maze
Only the white paths can be followed. It is not possible to jump from one path to another (remember that you must not lift the cursor off the paper).
You can go up and down stairs, and pass under paths, as long as you follow the one that is drawn.
You can also go up and down using ladders.
Some Mazescapes have closed doors. To pass through such a door, you must first have found and picked up the key of the matching color. Use the table on the last page of this booklet to note the keys you have picked up (a key is considered picked up as soon as you move the cursor over it).
Portals let you teleport. Move the cursor directly to another portal, without following the paths and without folding or unfolding any section. To teleport, both portals must be visible.
Starting Over
If you think you are stuck in a dead end, you can start over from the Compass Rose. In this case, be sure to fold the Mazescape back up following the instructions shown on its back.
Exiting the Maze
When you reach the impossible Triangle, you escape the maze! You can then begin the next Mazescape.
To keep the Mazescapes from being damaged, carefully follow the folding instructions shown on the back.
If you get lost in the maze and need a small hint to find your way out, you can scan the QR code printed on the back of the Mazescape with your phone. This code will take you to a range of hints that should help you continue your exploration.
Secondary Objectives
Each Mazescape has its own specific secondary objectives. They are shown on its back. On the last page of this booklet, a table lets you track these objectives. There are 3 types of secondary objectives:
- Find: To complete this objective, you must move the cursor to the indicated element. For example, find this flag.
- Activate: To complete this objective, you must reach the switch (by moving the cursor there). For example, activate the switch to "start the clock."
- Pick up and carry: To complete this objective, you must first pick up the object (1), then carry it to its destination (2). For example, pick up the coin and bring it to the fountain.
The Ultimate Challenge
If you have completed all the Mazescapes in this box and accomplished all their secondary objectives, you can attempt the ultimate challenge: light every lantern using the lighter found in Mazescape No. 7!
To do this, you must retrace every Mazescape from No. 1 to No. 7, without stopping, passing by every lantern present in each one before exiting through the impossible Triangle. You can note the lit lanterns in the table on the last page.
Objectives Table
The last page of the booklet carries a table for recording, per Mazescape (Nos. 1–7): completion, time to solve, keys picked up, secondary objectives accomplished, and — for the Ultimate Challenge — the lanterns lit on the final run.
