Preparation

Place the Berlin hex "Brandenburg Gate" in the center of the island – it replaces the desert. Afterwards, randomly distribute the remaining terrain hexes and place the number tokens according to the game rules. Remove the hex that received the "2" token and replace it with the Berlin hex "Museum for Communication." Also remove the "2" token. Hence, both Berlin hexes remain without number token and consequently do not produce when the dice are rolled.

The "Berlin Bear" consists of 2 parts. Slide both parts together so that the two dots are located opposite each other. The "Berlin Bear" starts on the "Brandenburg Gate" – the bear replaces the robber. (Malicious gossip has it that Berlin's heraldic animal is collecting resources for the completion of the Berlin airport. So, look forward to the "7" and donate eagerly!)

Advantage of the Berlin Hexes

When a "7" is rolled, the resulting actions are carried out according to the normal rules. Afterwards, each player with a settlement or city at a corner of a Berlin hex receives the resource produced by the terrain hex the "Berlin Bear" was moved to. A player who has various settlements or cities adjacent to a Berlin hex still gets only 1 resource.

Important: If the "Berlin Bear" has left the "Brandenburg Gate" hex, you may no longer move him to a Berlin hex.
