Playing the Game
Step 3: Choose Attack or Defence
- The sheet shows one player saying "I choose to 'defend' with him," and the other saying "I must attack. I choose him."
Step 4: Compare the Ratings
- The sheet shows the defending player saying "My defence beats your attack. I scored!"
- Place the cards to one side and keep count of the score.
Step 5: Scoring and Choosing Again
- After a goal is scored, the player who scored chooses again: "I scored so I choose again. I attack with him."
- The opponent then chooses their player to defend: "I must defend. I choose him."
Step 6: A Draw
- If no goal is scored, the sheet's banner reads "It's a draw." Put these cards to one side and continue with the rest of your team.
- The sheet shows "No-one wins. I select again" for the next choice.
Step 7: Make a Substitute
- Make a change at any point in the game by choosing a sub to replace a player.
- The sheet's example: "I'm swapping a defender for another attacker," with the tag "Sub off."
Step 8: Use Your Manager
- Use your manager once to boost a player's score.
- The sheet's example: "A 5 point boost equals 90 in attack!"
Step 9: Use Your Stadium
- A stadium can also be used to boost a player's score.
- The sheet's example: "A 5 point boost equals 83 in attack!"
Step 10: Use Your Referee
- After your opponent has selected their player and chosen to attack or defend, place your referee card on top of their player.
- Select your player as normal, turn over the players and compare the ratings.
- Remember to take -5 off your opponent's rating!
Step 11: Winning the Game
- The sheet's end-game panel reads "All the cards have been played and I won," shown with a scoreboard of Home 4, Away 3.
- The sheet closes with "Let's play Match Attax again."
