The "Secret Identity" Challenge setup is described under its own section below.
Villain: Green Goblin
Villain Board
The Green Goblin's Villain board shows the following:
Villain's Table (Number of Heroes : Health)
| Heroes | Health |
|---|---|
| 2 | 5 |
| 3 | 7 |
| 4 | 10 |
The leaflet shows the Health icon as a heartbeat line. The table is read as Heroes : Health from the board artwork.
Special Rules
- When a Threat is defeated, shuffle it back into the deck and add a Threat token from the supply to the Mission card.
- The Green Goblin cannot suffer wounds while there are any Civilians on this board.
- If you are in the same Location as the Green Goblin, you may use two Heroic Action icons to rescue a Civilian on this board.
Overflow
If 1 or more Civilian or Thug tokens cannot be added to a Location, draw the top card of the Threat deck and place it in the next Location clockwise that does not yet have a Threat card.
BAM!
Deal 1 wound to each Hero in a Location with the Green Goblin. Take the top card of the Threat deck and place it in the next Location clockwise that does not yet have a Threat card.
The leaflet's comic-book effect text on this section reads "БАЦ!", translated here as "BAM!".
Evil Goal
The Heroes lose when every Location contains a Threat card.
The leaflet's heading "ЛИХА МЕТА" is translated here as "Evil Goal".
Threat Card: Accomplices
After you place this Threat in a Location, add a Thug token to this Location. Each Thug in this Location must be dealt 2 wounds to destroy it.
Locations
The Locations use these End of Turn effects. End of Turn effects are printed on the Location cards.
- Brooklyn Bridge (End of Turn): You may add 1 Civilian to any Location. Then rescue 1 Civilian from this Location.
- Daily Bugle (End of Turn): Reveal the top card of the Villain's Plan deck. You may place it at the bottom of that deck.
- Osborn Labs (End of Turn): You may gain 1 Heroic Action token.
- Oscorp Tower (End of Turn): You may gain 1 Heroic Action token.
- Queens (End of Turn): If you have only 1 or 2 cards in hand, you may draw 1 card.
- Midtown High School (End of Turn): You may gain 1 Heroic Action token.
On the Osborn Labs and Oscorp Tower cards, the token icon is partly covered in the leaflet artwork. Both are read as a Heroic Action token, matching the Midtown High School card. The leaflet's text layer confirms the wording "You may gain 1 ... token" on both.
Secret Identity Challenge
The Secret Identity Challenge can be used in any game, not only with the Spider-Verse expansion. When you play with this Challenge, Reporter tokens appear in some Locations. Reporters constantly follow the Heroes' actions. You may spend actions to move them out of your way. If you perform Heroic Actions or attack an enemy while Reporters are nearby, your name will eventually be revealed, which will hinder you for some time.
Setup
Place one Reporter token in each of the two Locations adjacent to the Heroes' starting Location. Also place a Reporter token in the Villain's starting Location.
Reporters and Revelation tokens
- If a Hero performs any action except Move, and/or uses a special effect from their card, while their current Location contains a Reporter token, that Hero gains 1 Revelation token. Resolving the End of Turn effect of the current Location does not cause a Hero to gain a Revelation token.
- In each Hero turn, a Hero can gain at most 1 Revelation token.
- During their turn, a Hero may use Heroic Action to move any Reporter token into an adjacent Location. The Hero does not need to be in the same Location as that Reporter token.
- If you move a Reporter out of the Location where your Hero is, you gain 1 Revelation token.
Revealing a Secret Identity
When a Hero gains a third Revelation token, their Secret Identity becomes known to everyone. The reveal has these consequences:
- The Hero immediately suffers 1 wound.
- On their next turn, the Hero must play their Hero card face down into the Storyline. A card played this way has no effect, although the Hero may still use the symbols from their previous Hero card in the Storyline as usual.
Once a Hero's Secret Identity has been revealed, that Hero no longer gains Revelation tokens until the end of the game.
