How to Play
Game Set Up
1). 2 to 6 players, or teams for larger groups. Each player\team chooses a playing level (use above description as a guide to your level), this level is used throughout the entire game except when using Power Tokens, as noted below.
2). The players decide how long a game to play by setting the number of Super-Villains that must be captured to "Save The World" and Win.
- To "Save the World" in approximately 25 minutes: Capture 8 Super-Villains with each player\team receiving 2 Power Tokens.
- To "Save the World" in approximately 60 minutes: Capture 15 Super-Villains with each player\team receiving 3 Power Tokens.
- To "Save the World" in approximately 80 minutes: Capture 20 Super-Villains with each player\team receiving 4 Power Tokens.
3). Each player takes a Villain Score Sheet and circles the amount of Villains the players decided it would take to "Save the World" (i.e., if the game length agreed to is 15 Villains then each player circles 15 Villains on his score sheet before starting the game. If playing a game to capture 20 Villains then circle 20 Villains on your score sheet before starting play, etc.).
4).Trivia cards are shuffled and placed in box.
Game Play
The player with the highest roll of the die goes first, then play continues clockwise. The player to the left of the current player pulls a trivia card from the box and asks the current player a question at his level. If the question is answered correctly, the current player crosses off one Villain on his score sheet and it's the next player's turn. If question is answered incorrectly, it's the next players turn, no penalty. See tracking correct and incorrect answers* below.
Using Power Tokens
A player must announce before his turn that he is going to use a Power Token. The player will announce if he is trying to:
-
Roll to Capture multiple Villains OR
-
Move down one Level of play OR
-
Challenge a player to move up one Level of play.
1) Roll to Capture Multiple Villains
Player surrenders a Power Token to the middle of the table. Before the question is read, the current player rolls the die and will be able to cross out the number of Villains rolled, if the question is answered correctly. If answered incorrectly, the player must circle that many new Villains to Capture on his score card.
Example: Player rolls a 4. If question is answered correctly, he crosses out 4 Villains on this turn. If answered incorrectly, he must circle 4 new Villains on his score sheet to capture. So, if playing a 20 Villain game, this player now has 24 Villains circled and must cross out all 24 to win.
OR
2) Move to an Easier Level
A player who has answered incorrectly 3 questions in a row may surrender a Power Token and move down one level easier.
OR
3) Challenge a Player to Move Up One Level
When a player is doing very well, i.e., has answered 5 questions in a row correctly. That player can be challenged on the next turn, by any other player, to move up one level. The player making the challenge must surrender a Power Token. Then the player being challenged can either accept the move up to the next level, or they can counter the challenge by surrendering a Power Token of their own. In this case each of the two players will roll the die, and whoever has the higher number wins. If the challenger wins, than the challenged player must move up one level. If the challenger loses, than the challenged player can continue to play at the same level.
Important: Any Player that has been challenged may not be challenged again until they have answered another 5 questions in a row correctly. Once a player has been forced to move up one level and then proceeds to answer incorrectly, 3 questions in a row, they may use a Power Token to move down one level.
Tracking Correct and Incorrect Answers
*Tracking Correct And Incorrect Answers: Each player must track how many questions in a row they answered correctly or incorrectly. After each player's turn and in addition to crossing out Villains or adding Villains to the score sheet, the player records whether they answered correctly by placing a check "√" mark in the box or incorrectly by placing an "x" in the box and in the event they "Lose a Turn", mark an "L" in the box on the score sheet. After a player/team has either missed 3 questions in a row or has correctly answered 5 questions in a row, they must announce it to the other players so they can choose to use or not use a Power Token.
The First Super Hero to cross out all his (accumulated) Villains "SAVES THE WORLD" and WINS!
Notes
- The amount of Villains added to any game is unlimited.
- When a player rolls "Lose A Turn", he does not get to answer a question on that turn, play continues normally.
- Any time there is a tie when rolling the die, players roll until the tie is broken.
- It is possible that there can be more than one answer to a question. The only answer that counts is the one on the card.
- If playing two or more games in a row, the winning player/team must start the next game one level of difficulty higher.
