Alternate Victory Rules
A player must complete two Victory Conditions in order to win the game.
When a player achieves their first Victory Condition, they place one of their Control Markers on the matching Victory Condition on the back of this card.
The first player to achieve their second Victory Condition immediately wins the game.
Once a player achieves a Victory Condition, they do not lose it if they no longer meet the Victory Conditions requirements later in the game.
Example: Rome has conquered 4 Legendary and Capital Cities. They place a Roman Control Marker on the Conquest Victory Condition. On the next turn, Rome loses one of the Legendary Cities but their Conquest Victory Condition remains.
Victory Condition Board
The back of the card shows the Victory Conditions as a row of icons. Each row is described below, left to right, with the icons as printed. The row names in brackets are not printed on the card. They are matched by icon to the base rulebook's Section 6.
Row 1 [Five Heroes and/or Wonders, base rulebook 6.2]: a laurel wreath around the numeral 5, followed by a set of "Mare Nostrum" card icons.
Row 2 [Pyramids, base rulebook 6.1]: a pyramid graphic behind a numeral in a laurel wreath, the multiplication sign "×", a copper coin bearing a head, a second numeral in a laurel wreath, the not-equal sign "≠", and a grey coin bearing a cube. The first numeral is partly obscured in the printing.
Row 3 [Leader Titles, base rulebook 6.4]: three coloured tiles with a "+" sign between each pair, set under a laurel wreath. From left to right they show a blue tile with a camel, an orange tile with a temple, and a grey tile with a helmeted statue. The base rulebook names these three Leader Titles as Trade, Culture and Military.
Row 4 [4 Capital and/or Legendary Cities, base rulebook 6.3]: a numeral 4 in a laurel wreath, the multiplication sign "×", and two city icons: a temple in an orange frame, then a temple in a red frame, separated by a dashed line. The front of the card names this condition as the Conquest Victory Condition.
