Must I take a main action on my turn while I still have dice?
The rulebook says you must perform exactly 1 action as long as you have dice.

Yes. As long as you have dice, you must choose and perform exactly one action; bonus actions do not count as that action. The free Take 3 Coins bonus can use any of your dice, even the last, so if nothing else is affordable or useful you can spend dice there until you run out and pass.
