Can I complete or discard a contract to make room for another one in the same Contracts action?
The rulebook says you must have room for new contracts, discarding older ones first, and bonus actions happen before or after.

No. Any older contracts must be completed or discarded before the new ones are placed, because bonus actions are not allowed in the middle of the main action. A contract you just took cannot be discarded to make room for another.
